Review of Trinity Theatre

A lot of the council finance for this venue has been recently pulled, so they are nearly totally self-financing now, hence the need now to charge in the car-park. The venue hosts a wide variety of shows and films and gets the occasional big name e.g Jack Dee, Jo Brand and Bob Golding (who does the one man Eric Morecambe show which is AWESOME .... and touring again in 2014) amongst up and coming names. The venue holds about 350 people and is a converted church and is located in the town centre. I suppose for comedians,if you can make 350 folk from hoity-toity Tunbridge Wells (I lived there for eleven years) laugh, then you must be funny! There is a small art gallery inside the building and a SUPER little cafe ...... a nice ambience and quiet.

Good quality performances of everything from opera to plays at reasonable prices, plus films and talks. A good bar and refreshment area with seating. Some parking, but also near public car parks..

What do I love about trinity? Where to start. There's the magnificent building itself - a magnificent converted church smack in the middle of town. There's the variety that is shown - From local Amateur dramatics, to kid shows to Hollywood blockbuster films. There's the fact that you can actually buy and take an alcoholic beverage in to the theatre with you!! There's the wonderful cafe serving HOME-MADE(!!!) food of all varieties (including cake). There's the friendly and helpful staff. So what do I dislike about Trinity? Nothing...nothing at all.

Without Trinity I would not see many of the current films as the 'industrial estate' where a chain cinema is located is in an inaccesible, unattractive part of town. So, for anyone seeking culture, Trinity is a lifesaver. With the advent of screening 'live' performances of opera and ballet, residents of RTW can enjoy professional performances at a lower price than going to Covent Garden. The only negative is that films & shows are generally only featured for one day which means if one cannot attend that date, the opportunity has passed. Perhaps, if we can increase awareness, the Trinity will be able to increase the number of showings in the future? Perhaps Trip Advisor reviewers may be able to help this goal?
