The hot chocolate is the best I've ever had. The glass is coated with melted chocolate and frothed milk put into the glass. All this is topped of with a chocolate disk that melts - heavenly.

Ismail is lovely and Gill and Rachid who own it are also lovely. They ground their own coffee - which you can buy if you want to. The hot chocolate is also to die for - milk, dark or white - all my nephews love the chocolate. I love their coffee which comes with a timer and is one of the best in Tunbridge Wells. Ismail is def worth a visit.

I found this place by accident years ago when waiting all day for a child doing some sport somewhere - what a lucky day that was. The coffee is fabulous, but the hot chocolate - take your kids, offer them either the milk or the dark, and sit back and wait for them to tell they'll love you forever and a day if only you'll keep bringing them here for the hot chocolate!!
The cakes are genuinely baked at somebody's home (I asked because they tasted great). I've not managed anything savoury yet, haven't got past the sweeties. (The croissants are as good as at Fauchon in Paris).

Ismail is in an imposing building in the Neo-Classical style, just the kind of place you would expect to find in Oxford or Bath but, as, perhaps, with Trip Advisor Reviews all is not what it seems.

It gives the impression of being an adjunct, an add-on, to its neighbouring store, Cotswold Outdoor, but under the same roof. The space it occupies seems less than half that of its neighbour and less well-lit. Perhaps it is the usual choice of coffee shop proprietors to opt for dark woods? However, there is no escaping the quality of the coffee: not the best I have ever had but certainly very acceptable.

I was browsing in the Cotswold shop next door and smelt the coffee, as they say. I ended up having lunch, a mix of 3 different salads and a cheese scone, plus slice of coffee cake. All absolutely delicious. Nice to have free wifi and daily papers when you are eating alone. Not cheap but worth every penny, I really enjoyed my lunch.
