Kitsu is easily my favourite restaurant in Tunbridge Wells. Truth be told, it’s probably my favourite restaurant full stop. It sells the most delicious, fresh, homemade sushi as well as a variety of noodle and rice dishes. From the outside it doesn’t look like a remarkable place however, this adds to its charm – it’s a truly unique, quirky little place. If anything the minimalistic décor is refreshing.
Although in the past I’ve been slightly overwhelmed by the extensive sushi menu, I’ve got into the routine of asking the staff for recommendations, which means I’m constantly trying new food. The waiters and waitresses are all very obliging and completely humor me.
You should know that they don’t have a bar license, but you’re able to bring your own alcohol – if I remember correctly there’s a (very small) corkage fee. In terms of pricing, the food is really very reasonable, especially when you compare it to somewhere like YoSushi. You can get a bento box, which includes miso soup, for around £15 and noodle/rice dishes cost roughly £10. They also do an inexpensive lunch menu, which is certainly worth checking out.
I’m thrilled to say that this wonderful little restaurant is, deservedly, often very busy – particularly in the evenings. So it’s definitely best to book in advance.
If you do go, enjoy!! And order the dragon fish sushi roll.
