We were blown away by this house and the scale of the renovation that the owner, Harold, has undertaken over the last 8 years. The whole experience felt as though we were staying with a friend, enhanced by the fact that we were invited to have tea and cake with Harold and two of his own friends who were visiting from Australia. This was a lovely touch and made us feel very welcome. Our bedroom was lovely and very comfortable, it overlooked the rear garden and was peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was an experience in itself! Harold brought everything to the dining room and then the 2 of us were left alone in the room to enjoy the tasty food. It felt like eating breakfast in a National Trust property! Fabulous and very decadent! Harold also went out of his way to serve us afternoon tea when we arrived back from sightseeing each day. Loose leaf tea and fine bone china, together with homemade cake (different each day, including Victoria sponge with fresh cream and strawberries and lemon drizzle cake)! Absolutely fabulous experience in every way.
