Rumoured to be the oldest pub in Kent with a licence going back to 1415 this one time coaching inn is now a beautiful place to visit for its beamed ceilings, roaring log fire in the winter and its good food.

The landlord and lady are both very friendly (so is Charlie the dog!) and have made this a pub worth visiting. It has a good choice of home made food, the fish and chips are wonderful and the steaks are hard to beat.

A traditional English pub with dartboard is becoming a thing of the past and this one in particular should be supported.

Wow, what a turnaround this place has had-it certainly is positive over the last year, the new owners are lovely and have definitely made the place much more welcoming and homely in decor. I expect more positive things to come from the red lion and recommend it as a good value for money 'local' pub. If they weren't shepherd neame it would be great, but that's a personal taste on beer! It doesn't have the views the beacon has, but it's the one of 2 pubs in rusthall that I recommend.

The Red Lion has recently had a change of management. So for those locals who have not tried it for a while give it another chance! Word has got around so you may need to book. The menu changes frequently and seasonal and local produce is used.. It provides good value food with a friendly service. The wine selection is good. The food is better and cheaper than many main competitors in the gastro-pub market eg The Hare at Langton

LIKED - the food and prices and that it is near me!

Don't go if you want to eat outside as there is not much in the way of a garden.
