A superb evening of fine dining and great wine. Max was both interesting and informative and the kitchen certainly did us proud. For a true taste of Italy combined with great hospitality you need look no further than this gem in RTW.

“Ignore the (few) haters, this is a gem”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Happened upon this hidden gem thanks to Google Maps and I'm so pleased we did. This is a jewel in an desert of identikit chains. Local, family-owned with food made almost in front of you - what is not to like. The prices reflect the care and quality of both staff and food, and the result is more than worth the money.

Ignore the likes of Valerie-Parry below as they are clearly more used to eating the bland churn from the likes of Ask or Prezzo. Max and his team create authentic, interesting dishes that taste marvellous. The cosy atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff just add to the appeal of this special little eatery. Don't miss an opportunity to experience this lovely, lovely eatery.

“GENUINELY ITALIAN”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

This really does feel like the locals' favourite place to eat in a small Italian town. Very cosy and slightly chaotic - which adds to the atmosphere. My children shared a pizza which was very cheesy (in a good way!) and OH and I both went for a pasta dish. I agree that the portions aren't vast but they are perfect for lunchtime, and we would have been very full had the children not snaffled half our bread (which, by the way, was the best homemade ciabatta I have ever had). I managed to get a good look at the meals being brought to other tables and they all looked superb - a fantastically rich-looking lentil and Italian sausage stew (more like a very thick soup) and gorgeous stuffed flatbreads. It's a shame that we couldn't linger as this is such a lovely, friendly place to eat - there were clearly several regular diners, which is always a good sign. We will certainly return - hopefully in the evening, as there were some good Italian wines on offer.

“Bland and a rip off”
Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

A tiny, quite pretty little place near to where we live and we so wished it had been better as we would be regulars. As it was, we found it grossly overpriced. £12 and £13 is a lot to pay for what was essentially a plate of rice and a plate of pasta. The game risotto was flavourless and there wasn't much of it. My prawn tagliatelle had 5 prawns in it (I counted) and again was a mean portion. We both had to salt our dishes quite substantially to raise any kind of flavour. The cheapest wine was an £18+ Chardonnay and it proved to be very rough. Add to that, overpriced sparkling water and some tasteless tiramisu and we walked away £60 poorer. No, we won't be going back....

This is a small, comfortable restauarant offering delicious food served by a wonderful host - marvelous. I would have liked a bit more on the plate but then again I am a bit of a glutton :-)
