“Nice hotel”
Reviewed July 25, 2010

I stayed for 2 nights, i was attending a wedding on the Saturday. Nice clean room, had everything you need. The wedding reception was in the hotel (thru the underground tunnel to the bar across the road). Lovely weather made the day and the balcony/veranda is a great assest to the function room. I liked the breakfast on both mornings but the service could have been better or a bit more prompt and attentive but was ok! In general I would stay here again especially if i visit family in the area again, good location to where i needed to go, and only a short taxi into ramsgate town centre and train station

Great Hotel. Out of main town (Ramsgate) so nice and quiet but near the beach. Walk to town was about 15 minutes. The Hotel has its own Pub and Restaurant across the road but there is also another Shepherd Neame one next door that is also great, both with sea views. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was ideal. Was able to relax. Will stay again.

Clean comfortable hotel set in a quiet location. There is plenty of parking space and all the staff were unfailingly, cheerful and helpful. Our room was well equipped if a bit small. The meal arrangements in the pub just opposite are a little idiosyncratic, especially with the connecting tunnel. The menu and specials board contained pretty much everything you might expect on a pub menu and the food was better quality than many. The pub does also boast a TV and pool table (which are avoidable) but if this spoils your idea of an evening meal, there is the Bellevue tavern virtually next door which has a similar menu in more sophisticated surroundings. Alternatively it is about a 25 minute walk to Ramsgate along the coastal promenade.

If you're looking for a base to tour the Isle of Thanet, you won't go far wrong with the Pegwell Bay Hotel.

It's set on the clifftop so good views abound and it's only a few metres from the clifftop prom walk. Suggest though it's a little too far to walk into Ramsgate and back for a night out. Taxis though in this area are incredibly cheap compared to London, or maybe anywhere else! About £3.80 one way in the local area.

REQUEST: can other reviewers please state the benefits of the location and advantages / disadvantages of where the hotel is. It really helps.

The positives are that the staff are friendly and the rooms well groomed and comfortable. Decent flat screen TVs and big beds, bathroom with good shower. And it's quiet. The pub just over the road is a good old fashioned type with excellent food, real ale, and incredibly nice people to serve you. We'd certainly go back when in the area.

There are a couple of negs. The rooms are small. We had a so called "suite" with seaview. But it was no more than a bed with a small desk. Not quite what you expect when booking a suite.

We also arrived ten minutes late for breakfast on a Monday morning. Our fault of course but the chef had shut down and the waitress was clearing away. We managed to grab some cereal but waited 10 minutes to be offered a quick cup of tea. She then proceeded to clear everything. A shame as many hotels would have perhaps offered some toast and looked after us a bit better.

But it's a decent place and reckon a cut above the cheaper hotels in town.

Stayed here for valentines weekend, and had a fab weekend,
Donna greeted and took us to our room, she was very friendly and informative about the hotel and the area. I could not find the shaver point, and she soon offered me an adaptor, but assured me there was a shaver point there somewhere, she was right, it was hid up in the mirror/light,
Room was spotless, warm & cosy, could not fault it. Wonderful shower.
Had a meal in the pub across the road Fri night, excellent quality and quick service, one of the nicest pubs I have ever been in.
Plenty of safe parking on site.
Walked into Ramsgate via the cliff top all the way, it took about 15 mins and was very enjoyable.
We loved this hotel and will certainly return,
Excellent value for money.

What a lovely hotel, with friendly staff and beautifully clean towels! The sea view from the room window was lovely and the room was warm with a very comfortable bed! Hotel is perfectly situated and is very quiet with the pleasant sound of the ocean and seagulls! Perfect place to go if you want to get away from the busy life of London.
Dinner and Breakfast were great!!!

An overnight stay with our Christmas function being held in the hotel too. So impressed from start to finish.Staff were so friendly and helpful, rooms were very pretty and clean,as was everywhere else in the hotel.Considering the fact that the evening functions were full to capacity, yet still everything was perfect.Good food, good atmosphere and lovely surroundings.Great value for money.Thank you especially to the waitress staff who did an excellent job during the functions, attending to so many people with a smile on their faces and were back in on duty the following morning for breakfast duty, how good is that?!
