This was my second visit to this hotel, so I knew what to expect, having been there just a few weeks before. Both times I found staff on reception to be friendly and efficient.
Again I paid extra (or rather my employer did) to get a suite, which seemed to be a good choice. The room, 201, was clean, recently decorated, well furnished with a comfortable bed. A good range of Freeview TV channels on a big flat screen TV. Mind you, while it was called a suite, the size of it compares with a normal sized hotel room elsewhere. The same applied to the suite I had on the ground floor 2 months ago. A clean bathroom, all fixtures and fittings in good condition.

The hotel is in a quiet setting just across the road from the sea and cliffs. It’s a sea view but within an industrial bay. There is a very good sized car park, a space for every room. As the hotel isn’t in Ramsgate itself (Pegwell is a residential suburb of Ramsgate) the hotel would benefit from indoor leisure facilities, like a gym or small indoor pool, but it’s too small a hotel for such things. At least the adjacent pub that is part of the same business has a pool table and dart board.

I dined in their pub across the road both times. It has a real English pub atmosphere, but with a sea view too. Good pub food and real ale is available at fair prices, which you can charge to your room. This time we also had an impromptu acoustic guitar session from a couple of guests.

Breakfast is served in the pub function room, but it feels like a proper hotel dining room, and again has the panoramic sea view. The breakfast was fine the first time, and even better the second time. Good quality, good sized portions and plenty of choice; all cooked to order and served by a friendly waitress. They even provide the morning papers to read while you wait. Surprisingly the food at breakfast was much better quality than I had at sister hotel The Fayreness in nearby Kingsgate last year.

Pegwell does not have enough for a holiday in itself. That said, I would stay here again for a business trip or overnight break on a longer journey, or a base to explore Kent.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough, we stayed for four nights and the whole stay was an absolute pleasure...from check in to check out the staff were attentive, friendly and efficient especially the hotel manager Becca, who looked after us throughout our stay.
My husband had arranged to have flowers and champagne in our room on arrival for our anniversary, what he hadnt arranged was the lovely pink balloons that had also been placed in the room, what a nice thoughtful unexpected touch!!
The room itself was spacius well appointed and absolutely spotless! Fantastic seaview ,huge wall mounted flat screen TV, very comfortable King size leather bed, lovely bathroom which was once again spotless, lots of storage, free WIFI access which was essential for us to run our business whilst we were away.
The breakfasts were fantastic, all freshly cooked and plenty of it, good choice on the menu from light continental to scrambled eggs with smoked salmon ( my husbands favourite!) to full english which was very delicious.
We always sat at the same table with fantastic panoramic sea views overlooking pegwell bay.
As I said at the start I cannot recommend this hotel enough, We have already booked to come back for a week at Christmas. We have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the UK and paid £250 per night for some of them but I can honestly say that this hotel is just as good if not better than most of them.
As I own and run a 4 star silver guest house myself I know what good looks like and this place is good.........
Thank you Becca and staff of the pegwell for a wonderful stay see you at Christmas!!

Needing a last minute booking for a family celebration for a Saturday in August we were surprised to find a room at a reasonable rate advertising sea view. Disappointing arrival at 5pm to find nobody on the reception desk and no bell or buzzer to contact anyone. After 5 minutes some cleaners arrived in the reception area and asked if anyone was looking after us. Another 5 minutes passed while they tried to contact the receptionist who was eventually found in the office behind reception. She did at least show us to our room.

Although quite small, the room was very clean, had plenty of storage space and a well stocked coffee tray. The bathroom must have been refurbished fairly recently and was also spotlessly clean. Our room over-looked the car park and did have a sea view even if it was not the prettiest of views with a view of the cooling towers on the far side of Pegwell Bay. This was compensated by a display of the Red Arrows who were flying at an air show further down the coast and turned right in front of our window.

When we returned from our celebration later that evening we expected the hotel to be noisy as we had noticed a bride and groom arrive shortly before we went out. Being a very hot night we had the window open but the bed was very comfortable and we only heard a few people shouting goodnight and a couple of doors banging on our corridor as people returned to their rooms before quickly falling asleep. We had had a particularly busy period leading up to the weekend but the hotel and road outside was so quiet we slept until 9am next morning.

Having had a very large meal the night before and knowing we were going for an early lunch we did not try breakfast.

stayed 2 nights(mon & tues)..reception staff were friendly and efficient..room was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean..shower was lovely..breakfast..although not particularly cheap(£7 50pp)was in fact good value and filled us both up.Excellent parking facilities as well.Ate in pub opposite and the meals were very nice..drinks pricey though! The only downside for me were the corridor doors seemed to bang shut well into the early hours and we found this very annoying..oh..and dont bother taking an alarm clock as the seagulls will ensure you dont sleep a wink after 6 am!
