“Unexpectedly great”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

My wife and I were out on a early fall weekend - drove to the coast with no hotel reservation. Was told by another hotel (which was full) "oh, when it is a sunny Saturday, we are always full". Found the Pegwell quite by accident. Turned out to be lovely. Quite friendly staff - in fact, a bit over friendly. I really don't need "help" to my room (44 year old man, 1 small bag, nice women carrying by bag - just feels wrong). Spotlessly clean. In fact, the room felt like it had just been re-done. Great view of of the coast. The breakfast room has a stunning view. Quiet. Just great.

we stayed in room 206 for two nights in sept 2012.The room was spacious, perfectly clean, huge bed! the only thing that i personally didnt like was the very thin quilt and the kettle took ages to boil. But everything else was spot on.we attended a wedding which was held at the hotel and we arrived early, but the room was ready for us. The wedding was perfect, the hotel staff were friendly, polite, proffesional and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was nice, not greasy and lots of choice.

Room Tip: all rooms are nice,

We stayed here for a week on a bowls holiday. The friendliness of the hotel & bar staff was excellent, the room had a sea view & had all facilities required. The breakfast was very good as was the evening meal, great menu selection in the bar across the road as well.

Firstly the staff are very friendly and helpful. My wife and i stayed in room 302 with a sea view, the room was was very freshly decorated and well kitted out. There is a mirror with built in lighting for the ladies to do their make up with hair dryer beside it.Ample tea/coffee and proper cups and saucers no paper crap.Another nice touch, the phone in the room had plenty of cable attached so you could move it to either side of the bed and as i need to plug in medical equipment this was convenient. The water pressure in the shower is excellent with plenty of hot water.Parking is plentyful.I have to say a lot of thought has gone in to kitting out the rooms. The hotel serves a good breakfast for 7 pounds fifty and the staff know how to make coffee well, which i find is rare in the UK.The food in the pub across the road is excellent for a feed in the evening. The whole experience was very pleasant indeed.Well done to all.

Room Tip: Get a sea view

I stayed here with a friend for one night as we were attending a function in the vicinity. Accommodation was fine as was the breakfast the next morning in the pub across the road. I was surprised to find that at checkout, the price I was charged by the online booking site didn't include breakfast, so I had to fork out a further £15, which didn't really make the place competitive. You have been warned!

Stayed there for a couple of days last week and was very satisfied. Situated in the outskirts of Ramsgate you will need to walk for 15-20 minutes in order to eat a nice dinner, but that does not remove the unique charm of the Pegwell. Worth a stay if you are visiting Sandwich / Ramsgate.

This is a lovely hotel and definitely value for money. Not only is the scenery from the bay beautiful, but the rooms are clean and pleasantly decorated. The service as well is fantastic, the staff are very pleasant and always on hand to help.

The Sir Stanley Grey pub that is affiliated with the hotel serves great food and has an outside porch area to watch the scenery.

It's about a £4 taxi from Ramsgate Station or to get into Ramsgate, but if you don't mind walking into the town, then you can just follow the harbour around to get into town and enjoy the sights.

Couldn't recommend this more for a weekend break or short stay.
