I recently visited Ramsgate for the first time to compete in the Thanet 20 mile run. The course passed the Belle Vue Tavern twice – once just after mile 3 and again after mile 7 – and from both directions it look very inviting. Having finished the race my buddy and I hobbled our way back to the pub where we were welcomed with 2 pints of Masterbrew, some serviettes to mop our brows and a big smile. The weather was horrible so the roaring fire was particularly good to see and the locals were all very friendly. I used the gents toilets to change out of my wet gear and was pleased to find them immaculately clean. We didn’t have any food but those around us who were eating were chatting away and looked happy with their meals. We didn’t venture onto the terrace as the wind was howling and it was pouring with rain. The views through the window were nonetheless fantastic and you can imagine the garden being very popular in nice weather. A great find and I will definitely bring my wife along for a visit in the summer.
