we were not told that the museum was closing in half an hour, due to the bank holiday.
we paid the full price, and took our time looking around then when we got to the first floor, we were told we had ten minutes left! we felt cheated as we had not seen half of it, also as EH members we could have had a 50%reduction,which we were not told at the time. a total rip off.

Thank you for your comments which are extremely valuable to us. I have passed the message on to staff regarding the closing procedures. It wasn't fair that poor staff communication led to you being given two different times and this is something which I will be feeding back. Your point regarding the half price offer for English Heritage members is certainly very valid. I have now ensured that there are signs up alongside the admission price signs which state clearly that this is the case for one-off admissions. Thanks again for your feedback as it has been very helpful for us and hopefully too for future visitors. We hope that you would consider visiting us again soon and enjoy a more pleasant experience.

This museum is a brilliant resource and fascinating. Not only do they do fab displays that capture the essence of Dover, they also run activities in the school holidays that all the kids (and their parents, secretly!) can enjoy. When mine were younger we used to visit the activities regularly, and had great fun. We now visit just to see the displays, which are a great way to spend and morning or an afternoon.

A good snapshot of Dover and its place in history. It was part of hellfire corner in the second world war and the museum documents this. It is not a huge museum, but it is in the centre of Dover and well worth a visit

I like the way the museum is set out in zones for times and separate individual displays. Very well kept, clean and easy to get around. The Bronze Age boat display is wonderful.
