I had dressed crab for main meal but very little flavour to it.. dressed up with way to much salad. Think its very over priced. Your comments are noted. All our crabs are delivered on a daily basis from Griggs of Hythe and it is difficult to interfere with the natural subtle flavours of a nice fresh crab. Squeezing fresh lemons always helps.

Ben waited on us. Having never been to this restaurant or this area we relied on Ben's guidance with menu items. We thought their menu was quite good with some very tasty choices.

A good meal and fresh coffee. This is just above Dover's Rowing Club and can get busy during the weekend. They have a small outside seating area with good views across the harbour. But I imagine it could get a bit chilly if the weather is not to bright. The name comes from where they get there seafood from, which we found to be reasonable value and well prepared.

We were greeted pleasantly, but had to wait for a table although the restaurant was not busy.
After being seated at a nice window table, we waited some time for our drinks order to be taken. After half an hour our starters were served, although we were still waiting for our drinks. The waitress did then take the drinks order again & they appeared swiftly thereafter.
Our main courses were promptly served, although one had the wrong accompaniments. The side salad followed a while later and then the cutlery! Condiments were offered & provided, although only one small ramekin of tartare sauce when several were requested.
It's not cheap. I would be happy however to pay the listed prices if the standard of service matched!
Toilets are slightly 'industrial' and don't match the ambiance within the main restaurant. Suspect this is due to being shared with the water sports facility downstairs though.

Sorry we got the service wrong, perhaps a little more training is required for some of our young staff. Clearly the toilets are not of the high quality we would like but as you rightly point out it is part of a sports complex. We hope however that you found them spotlessly clean. The ambience of the restaurant is, as you say, delightful and our normal procedure is when guests are seated they are presented with warm rolls and fresh mackerel pate, all complimentary. The views of Dover Castle, the White Cliffs and sometimes France are spectacular. Thank you.

Booked this restaurant for what should have been a lovely relaxed family (2:00) lunch with my three sons and wife.... Before we were even seated alarm bells started ringing.."it's not my job to seat you I'm afraid" was the first welcome from a young chap...few minutes later were seated, handed the set menu ( we were never told when booking it was a set menu) printed on A4 paper, pink flowers and butterflies,I'm some what embarrassed now that I've bought my family here for Mothers Day... The food was terrible, the vine tomatoes were raw,the halibut tasteless, aioli had no garlic in it...and so it goes on.. Finally £170 later were done..lesson learnt... The following day I'm up for work at 5:000am my youngest son is also up being sick,by 9:00am were
all being sick, all off work and school...coincidence may be? Try this restaurant at your own risk.....
Regardless of us all being ill, there are just so many restaurants out there with imaginative menus great food and great service..The five Bells,Rock Salt,The Marquis.....etc

Sorry to hear of your your experience. We served over 150 meals on Mothering Sunday and understandably most restaurants find it the busiest day of the year. Our policy was to have a fixed menu at a fixed price and we believe that all telephone callers and other bookers were advised that it was a fixed price menu. If we omitted to advise this reviewer that was the case then we apologise. We decided that the best way of controlling the seating for a maximum demand day was for the Manageress to personally seat all guests at pre-allocated tables and other staff greeting on arrival would have explained this to arriving guests. Yes, we did make the menu slightly more attractive and there were quite a few "Mums" who took the menu away as a memento of their happy day. This party did spend £170 but £40 of this was on alcohol and other drinks. There was a children's menu available at a lesser price but two of these young children chose to have the adult menu. The halibut was a particularly choice fish on the day and many people expressed their pleasure with its quality. As for the unfortunate sickness we can only assume that this was a domestic bug since including with our Hythe Restaurant we served well over 400 meals and there were no reports of any sickness whatsoever. Naturally we are well aware of a certain amount of corporate jealousy since we have introduced another quality restaurant into Dover. We have very high regard for all other restaurants you mention.
