“Recent stay at Farthingales”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

We stayed at Farhingales whilst visiting family in the locality. We had our own wing consisting of a private dining area, a lounge, spacious double bedroom and a large ensuite with beautiful slipper bath. The accommodation was tastefully decorated in keeping with the age of the property
The service was second to none, and Peter could not have made us feel more at home.
Breakfast was served, fresh and plentiful, and when you wanted it.
Our biggest regret was not having enough time to sit and enjoy the beautiful gardens, and the various, sometimes quirky, surprises around the property. The welcome was so warm, including from beautiful Molly the dog. We felt like we arrived as strangers and left as friends. Cannot recommend this stunning place highly enough - including the fabulous owner himself!

Stayed in the former 'Draper's shop' for 2 nights in early April. What an experience. Steeped in history but with a comfortable, homely feel & every mod. con. Owner Peter's welcome puts you straight at ease & nothing was too much trouble during our stay. There are only two bedrooms, double or twin, & full use of the downstairs lounge & small dining area. Being able to come & go as we pleased made for a very relaxed stay. Can't wait for a return visit.
Also amazed at how well situated for Dover, Canterbury & other main attractions in Kent even though in total countryside.

Just returned from a week at this lovingly restored barn conversion. Must be the most spacious property we have stayed in. Very well equipped and comfortable. Great idea to have more than one TV just in case the football was on !
Well placed for visiting Canterbury, Whistable, Deal and of course the White Cliffs of Dover. The only slight disappointment was that the only pub within walking distance appears to have recently closed. The property owner made us so welcome and Molly their dog made frequent visits to make sure we were all happy ! The weather was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed coming 'home' after a full day out to sit with a nice cuppa in the lovely garden room, warm and contented in the afternoon sun. Wonderful.

Room Tip: Both ensuite rooms are comfortable and quiet. The only thing I would say is the beds have end board...

We took a last-minute break for a week's family holiday in Kent and stayed at the Barn. The location is wonderfully peaceful and the barn is a very nice conversion.

We were made extremely welcome from the moment we arrived and the property manager couldn't have been more helpful. The barn itself has a great layout and one switches to relaxed mode within an hour of putting the luggage down. Exploring the gardens kept the children occupied as did Molly the dog who features repeatedly in the guest book.

Nonington is great for country walks but is also well placed for Kent's attractions. We visited the beaches at Broadstairs on several days, had day trips to Canterbury and the wonderful Dover castle, both of which are only 12 miles away; did a cycle ride to Whitstable and explored Deal and Sandwich - as well as a few other things.

We had a great week and wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you Peter and Molly!
