“Wonderful food. Interesting service”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

I have visited the restaurant twice. Both experiences were almost identical. The food was really tasty and well presented. My fillet steak was cooked exactly as asked for. All courses for both me and my wife were exquisite in taste on both visits. The only problem I have is that the waiters and waitresses, although very pleasant and hard working are a little incompetent. For example, having brought me my bottle of champagne, the waiter did not open the bottle, or supply us with any glasses. When I got the attention of the waitress, she brought me wine glasses and seemed confused that I required champagne flutes!
To be fair, I could not care that the service was shabby, because the food was wonderful and the setting, with harbour views, most pleasant.

“Restuarant service”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

On Christmas day we were invited by friends to attend Christmas lunch at this hotel. In summarizing the actual meal was OK, A little expensive for what it was, we do appreciate it was Christmas Day. The real disappointment was on the service or should we say lack of it and the total chaotic approach to table service such as; 1. The waiters shuffled pots of cranberry sauce to and from our table at the best we had eight pots and at the worst two. 2.All but one of the starters arrived at the same time, the last starter arrived five minutes later, when the rest of the party had finished that course. 3. When the sorbet arrived, it was in plastic type dishes, we then had to ask for spoons to eat the sorbet. 4. The portions were bordering on children's portion except the one child portion we ordered, was to over whelming for the child. 5. We had to ask for the Coffee's, a few issues here, we had to ask for the coffee cups, which were collected from an adjacent table, when the waitress placed the cups on the table she held the cups by the inner rim, some cups were different shapes and sizes. Some coffee's were warm and had to be returned and hot coffee provided, we had to ask for the sugar and to add insult to injury we were given milk not cream.6.Rubbish was not cleared from the table ( Christmas cracker remains). This is just a few problems encountered. We feel that one cause of this was the inconsistencies of the service, in that we must have had four different waiters/waitresses. It was nice to have "live" music in the form of a harpist, it's a shame we could not hear him. If we had been organizing the meal and this had happened, we would have complained at the time but as mentioned the meal was arranged and organized by a friend. On this experience we will definitely not eat or recommend this restaurant.

“Made our family occasion very special”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

We booked the Christmas menu for a large family party getting together the day after a wedding. The event organiser at the hotel upgraded us from the main restaurant to the Churchill suite so that we would have more freedom to move around and talk to each other.

The room was really fantastic - beautiful sea view, tables decorated very elegantly, a Christmas tree, a dancefloor (which the children of the party greatly appreciated) and the food laid out buffet-style and looking delicious.

The event manager personally worked to ensure we had everything we needed - the food was really delicious, high quality and plentiful. We are a Dover family and were already fans of the lovely restaurant and bar at the Marina but we were especially delighted at the service we received for our Sunday lunch party - many thanks.

“Highly recommended”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

We visited this restaurant based on the tripadvisor reviews and a recommendation from one of the staff at a local visitor attraction, and we were pleased we had. We were a little intimidated by the a la carte menu (we're not used to a la carte dining, but had to choose from that menu to get the tastecard discount) but we persevered and made our choices, the slow braised pork and the tarragon chicken. The food was beautifully presented, beautifully cooked and very tasty, although the portions were a little small if you have a large appetite (they were fine for us). The desserts were equally well presented and beautifully cooked.
The restaurant is in a great seafront position and our table had a harbour view, from where we could watch the cross channel ferries entering and leaving the port.
The service was excellent from start to finish and the food was reasonably prices even without the tastecard discount. We would definitely go back if we are in the area.
