We came here for breakfast one Saturday morning and liked it so much we booked there and then to come back for dinner. Having lived in Dover for a number of years we do not know how we missed this little treasure! Great tasting red wine on the wine menu and delicious starts, mains and desserts. The dauphinoise potatoes were delicious along with the rest of our meal. We left feeling very satisfied not uncomfortably full - the portion sizes are just right. The host has great character and is very friendly making you feel at home as soon as you step in the door.

One additional point...the toilets are very clean!

We will definitely be returning.

The restaurant is centrally situated in central Dover. It is beautifully laid out, with unpretentious but interesting decor and lovely lighting. We had an evening meal there which was delicious and all locally sourced produce. Menu was written on a blackboard and had a good variety of options, but as it is all freshly cooked thankfully there were not endless dishes to read through. There was a lovely courtyard outside to also sit and eat in but it was a little chilly that night. Great friendly service and helpful and delicious suggestions for choosing the wine. Price was very reasonable and look forward to revisiting it.
We stayed in one of the 3 apartments they rent out about 5/10 minute walk from the restaurant. All apartments are individually decorated beautifully (had a peek at the other two as they were vacant at the time i Hasten to add) with a lounge area that leads to the bedroom and shower room. All apartments are lovely and have different furniture and decor touches in each one - modern and antique working really well together. A very comfortable bed and subsequently we were well rested to continue our travels.

Great food! Superb service. Lots of local produce and all at a good price. You can't beat the Allotment for quality, originality, atmosphere, great service and pure value!
As it was a hot night the three of us sat in the little courtyard out back and enjoyed our meal and wine.

Great start to our holiday. Highly recommended!

Written with apologies to probably many deserving establishments in Dover.
We came upon the Allotment after trudging around the area of Dover which contains many accommodations, looking for decent restaurants, and almost giving up and getting fish and chips.
The Allotment is very simply laid out, light and airy with an open kitchen so you can watch your food being prepared if you wish. The menu is not extensive but contains a good selection to suit most tastes. It is hand written on blackboards so one would assume that it changes very regularly. The food is excellent , service is friendly. Can't fault it.

A great start to our holiday with a stop off at the Allotment for dinner

Lamb was very succulent accompanied with a light English white wine. The blueberry cheesecake took all 3 votes on the dessert front.

We then took advantage of the accommodation that they also have in Dover. Slept like a log in our chic flat and ready for the 8hr drive to Switzerland
