I dont like to give a negative review so I'll start with the positives - I would echo all the good things about the property such as spotlessly clean and spacious room, ample parking, convenient to amenities and tourist spots. We would add that the cooked breakfasts were delicious beautifully cooked each morning of our three night stay and although we didnt use the bar, it looked like it had a very pleasant atmosphere. We also liked that it was left to us to turn on heating in the room as we dislike the heat in most hotel bedrooms. As this is not a hotel as such (it is an inn), you only really encounter staff if you seek them out and when we did, they were friendly and helpful. The property pays homage to it's origins as an engineer's workshop as part of historic Chatham dockyard and is very tastefully decorated.
The negatives in our room number 2 were that the wardrobe rail was too low and therefore our clothes trailed on the bottom of the wardrobe but a serious negative was the shower. It was very unwieldy and I would even say dangerous, as you couldnt control it once the water was flowing through it like a power shower, and the flex and head fell off at one stage and hit me on the head and fell on my foot. Due to the powerful surge of water through the shower, it was virtually impossible not to have a lot of water pouring on the bathroom floor at each shower. Also, the bath sides were quite high to get in and out of. So, I would not recommend this room for anyone with stiffness or disability. What was interesting though was that the toilet facilities themselves were in the design for disabled persons. Also, there should be instructions as to how to use the taps as there are some taps for the bath and one for the shower but it isnt very evident what you should do to have either
Another problem with room number 2 is that it is next to a utility room and from around 8am, staff are dragging things in and out noisily so dont count on a lie in.
Overnight, we found it near impossible to sleep with the fans below us, and what sounded like washing machines on all night. Even wearing earplugs didnt help.
It is rare that I find myself saying this in a review but we would not stay here again. For a more restful night in the area, choose Ramada Encore, Chatham or Premier Inn, Will Adams Way, Gillingham.

Spent two nights here with friends visiting museums in the medway area. The hotel is clean and tidy and the staff very friendly. Bar area was quite busy and there wasn't much seating inside. Too cold to venture out on the balcony. Beer was reasonably priced and the food menu quite good. The hotel also boasts a Co-op and Chippy next door which serves the marina. Co-op was open from 6am till 11pm. Ship and trades is about a mile and a half outside Chatham itself so taxis are De-Rigeur if you want to venture into town. However, staff advised us that Chatham town centre on a Saturday night wasn't the best and advised us to go into Rochester, about a mile further on. We had a good night there, but pubs are few and far between in both towns. . We never ate at the restaurant, but that was because we went into town early. There is an all you can eat chinese round the corner of the shopping mall, but we never found it until we were leaving> One of our party couldnt come and the hotel knocked off £20.00 from the final bill which was very thoughtful. Reading previous reviews, there were comments about the noise at night, Noise? What noise, never heard a thing!! I would certainly stay there again

Room Tip: I stayed at the back, which is overlooked by a new living complex, remember to close your Bathroom/B...

We stayed three nights with our German friends and the accommodation was perfect for our needs. We wanted somewhere very clean and comfortable with good bathrooms which it was. The price was good for what we had and the breakfasts excellent. We had an evening meal in the bar which was good value for money and adequate for our needs. The bar atmosphere was good and the staff very friendly and helpful. We visited London for the day travelling from Chatham station to Victoria where we picked up a tour bus. The manager was so helpful explaining and helping us with our travel although tickets were already booked. The rooms had extra blankets and pillows and fans if needed, I read in a previous review about the noise of a fan but, as a listed building, nothing can be done about this and we just came to accept it. Parking facilities were excellent....free and plenty of spaces. It was a successful visit and I would certainly recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Rooms to one side are overlooking the car park and on the other the marina. The fan noise was the si...

On Check-in we were informed that it is not a hotel (despite the name) but an inn! Apparently this means there is no night porter or anyone in the building after 11pm except paying guests. Unfortunately we had an obnoxious, drunk, loud couple in the next room to us. As the walls were paper-thin they may as well have been in our room with us. The partying, singing, arguing, "making -up", take-away eating and throwing up continued for 4 hours until approximately 4am when they passed out. We called the "emergency" number provided twice and left a message on the answering machine. The lady on the desk in the morning apologised but that is not much good to us.

Room Tip: We were in room 6 so avoid unless you know who is in 8 but may all have the same problem.

Room was large, clean and airy, and the bed was comfortable. There was a continuous roar from a nearby vent - probably from the kitchen - which was OK once I'd convinced myself that I was really on a ship or train. On the first morning the staff had forgotten to note that I'd asked for a paper. Food was reasonable, though the scrambled egg was overcooked and rubbery, and I thought the beer was a bit overpriced for a hotel owned by a brewery.

Room Tip: Make sure it's not near the kitchen vents

Stayed for two nights as a base to visit historic dockyard and RE museum. A lively pub situated on the side of the Marina. Ten minutes walk from dockyard, thirty minutes walk from RE museum. Room was fairly small but comfortable. Good shower. Very good full English breakfast but our evening meal wasn't as tasty. (I had sweet and sour beef) Staff were friendly and helpful, beer was well kept. it was good value for money.
