“Interesting”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

Visited with my wife on a wet and windy day which was why we chose it.
The history of the place is great, getting to tour the submarine and other ships was good.
The rope house tour very good and good for the kids as well.
The ticket enables you to visit all year although i wouldn't rush back.
The cafe/restaurant was in my eyes expensive so if you have a family bring your own food and eat in the large mechanics shop which also houses a kids playground.
All in all a good day and a worthwhile place to visit

“Great place to return to with kids”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

The dockyards are really interestign for both kids and adults - plenty of boats (some indoors too) and atttractions. Some of the larger boats can be visited several times. The retired submarine is a must! There will be some ducking to do on the submarine so if you have walking difficulties/bad back, beware.
Highly recommend.

“A must for naval enthusiasts”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

Perfect destination for a daytrip from London if you like naval history and ships. Plan for 4 hours at least, as there is really a lot to see and to do.

The ropery (rope-making factory) and the HMS Ocelot submarine are only open on guided tours, so get a ticket for those right away when you arrive and you can plan the rest of your visit around these tours. Both guides were nice and helpful. Good free audio guide for HMS Gannet and HMS Cavallier.

I walked from Chatham railway station (25-30 minutes), but its probably better to take the bus.

“Leave plenty of time for your visit”
Reviewed November 29, 2013

We had an excellent day at the Dockyards visiting as many of the attractions as possible in the day we had available. In fact you need more than a day to be able to take in all the exhibits. The highlights for us was the Rope Walk and the Submarine.A good day at a reasonable entrance charge.
