We have been a couple of times in the 'Historic Dockyard'. It has always been very interesting and educational. The ropery is particularly interesting. You need to obtain a ticket at the entrance. Very worthwhile!

Chatham Dockyard is indeed a good day out. One ticket purchase lasts all year, so value for money is excellent if you are local. Ability to go on board a few ships and a submarine, and mor museums than you go around properly in a single day make this an ideal spot for either wet or dry weather days.

A good few hours or even longer if you want to.
The Submarine is an exciting experience as average people do not get the chance to travel through one...........which is what you can do.
Situated closely are Shops and Resturants if you get bored and Rochester is not far away for more nostalgia.
