Not quite sure what to make of this place........It was a Friday evening and we wanted somewhere fun and casual, and Marlowe's certainly looked inviting and was bright and nicely decorated. They don't seem to have quite decided what their identity is though. The menu was not so much eclectic, as a bit 'Jack of all trades', not quite Mexican, not quite English, or Italian, and unsure what it's trying to be. My partner had a burger, and I went for the Mexican Chicken, which was OK, but to be honest the taste was a bit too reminiscent of something from the 'Chilled Bistro Meals' section at the supermarket. The ambience could have been better if they hadn't been playing awful early '80s tunes all evening. We were seated opposite a huge neon sign that said 'Sol Beer', so I thought, I'll have one of those, it'll go with the chicken and sounds like fun. I asked the waiter for one but he said 'Sol?' looking very confused. I pointed to the sign and said 'Sol', to which he replied 'No, we don't sell it, that's only a decoration'. ? Over all the meal was OK, but nothing at all special. Possibly a better choice if you have kids and want somewhere for lunch that does burgers, chips, fajitas, etc., but not really ideal if you are looking for a well cooked dinner with original and authentic tastes.
