Had an excellent return visit to Cafe Mauresque; the staff are cheerful and welcoming - the venue inviting and the food and service really very good.
It is a place with real atmosphere, having themed decor that appears authentic. Lighting may be a bit dim for some, but that adds to the atmosphere for me.
Service was prompt and un-fussy, with help provided with the menu if asked, but not forced.
Price is very good, with mains being about £15.
Only slight drawback is the toilets are on the top floor, so that's two flights from the main basement dining area, so you need to be reasonably mobile.
The building oozes old-world charm, so don't expect modern clearances, etc.

I visit this restaurant on so many occasions, it is truly my absolute favourite Moroccan! The chicken and merguez sausage royale with stew stock served with the couscous is so tasty and I often have cravings for it! True comfort food and consistent every time we eat here! 10 out of 10! I celebrated my birthday here and it was all washed down with a jug of sangria, perfect!

I don't often order fillet steak, but the Andalucian style steak medallion dish I ordered here on Christmas Eve was absolutely superb. The service was also excellent too. Very friendly and polite staff who were efficient without seeming rushed. A rare thing in the UK. Thank you for a really good evening and very reasonably priced at the same time. My best Christmas memory this (last) year.

We love this restaurant . Its great value for money but the flavours are amazing. There is something for everybody. What we love is the downstairs atmoispheric dinng room. There are some great little alcoves if you fancy some intimacy. definitely good value for money coupled with a wonderful taste experience.
