“Excellent little guesthouse in Canterbury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2012

There were six of us, stopping over in Canterbury for the night. We had booked a double and a family room. Joe, the proprietor, greeted us and promptly offered us an extra room. Very kind of him and much appreciated. The rooms were very pleasant, in excellent condition, and the ground floor one gives access to a little patio. The location was very practical and easy to find. Within less than 10 minutes you're in the town centre (with its pedestrian areas and one-way streets - I'd rather be slightly on the edge of town). Breakfast was absolutely delicious with plenty of choice, good sausages and bacon done to a turn. All in all, an excellent place to stay.

My mate and I stayed here after a long walk on the north downs way, we had dropped in at Canterbury having never been to this city. I can honestly say this is the best guest house I have ever stayed at. The room was spotless, the breakfast was fantastic and Joe, the landlord, was a superb host - even giving us a lift to the train station the next day.
I would recommend this guest house to everyone - A++++++- happy days! :)

We (2 adults, 2 children) loved this B&B. Lovely sized family room, great location for Canterbury, and not too far from Whitstable and other seaside resorts. Breakfast was totally delicious and the owners really friendly. We can't wait to visit again. Fully recommend it. Couldn't fault it.

Though on a busy main road our front bedroom was quiet because of the double glazing. It was comfortable, the welcome was good and the owner helpful and friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

I stayed here for 1 night while doing a bike maintenance course. Joe & Patrick were wonderful hosts, very friendly & accommodating (they let me park my car at the guest house all day for 2 days) & helpful. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic & it is only a 10min walk from the cathedral so good location. Highly recommended!!

Close to Canterbury city center (10min walk), free car park, clean room, very nice breakfast ... in short, everything you need to enjoy your stay in Canterbury. Driving from Dover to Canterbury the guesthouse is easy to find, yes, the guesthouse is at a busy road but our room was at the back of the house so no problem there. The groundfloor room has a nice small terras (thank you Joe for the early morning coffee) very nice and handy if you are traveling with a smoker. The room was clean, good bed, open closet so you are sure not to forget anything ! A tray with a nice selection of tea and coffee and some cookies. Internet is also free available but we did not try it (laptop free vacation). 5 channels on the TV set (BBC1 and 2, ITV, Channel 4 and 5) Bathroom is small and clean, I did have some trouble with the shower but that might be because I still have trouble with these electric showers. The car park is at the back of the guesthouse (camera surveillance). Now for the breakfast ... hmmm ... full english (vegetarian available), choice of cereals, fresh fruit, bread and jam, you name it ... they have got it. No serious, breakfast is very nice and a good way to start your day ! Next time in Canterbury we will surely book there again.

Room Tip: Smoker ? Ask for the groundfloor room.

I stayed at this guest house with my partner over the Easter holiday. We were at a room at the front of the house on the upper floor of the house. The room was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and a better size than other B & B's I have stayed in. It is only about fifteen minutes walk from the town centre.

The road on which it is located is quite busy which can result in some traffic noise at night, but on the other hand it was is easy to find and handy when travelling out of Canterbury. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and Joe cooks a great breakfast. There were some nice touches, like a bowl of toffees and lolly pops by the door and a little hen shaped basket of mini chocolate eggs on the breakfast table at Easter day .

It is great value for money and I would use this guesthouse again if staying in the area.
