“An excellent birthday treat.....”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

......for my nephew.

We were staying in nearby Faversham for the week and it was my nephew's 8th birthday. As he is an animal lover, we went to Howletts and had a wonderful day. There were 14 of us aged from 4 - 75 and we all loved it.

We paid with Tesco Clubcard vouchers which was brilliant as it would have worked out very expensive otherwise. The staff were really helpful - we left a birthday cake and decorations at the entrance which they came and picked up and when we got to the function room it was already decorated and laid up for us. The food was OK - not particularly healthy but OK for a one off.

The animals were a bit lacking in visibility to start with - especially the big cats, but they had come to life by the time we made our way back to the entrance at about 5.30pm, and we were lucky enough to see a tiger playing in the pool. We spent ages watching the gorillas and went to a talk about them - how fascinating are they?!

All in all, a great day out.

“ok day”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

it was an ok day at howletts. The animals were fine but it wasnt very well organised. The queue for the coffee machine when you got there was very long and people complaining. The cafe was the other side of the park. All we wanted when arriving was a cup of tea. All the kiosks were closed. When we finally got to the cafe I waited in the queue for 25 mins for a cuppa. All the staff were stressed and it seemed that other staff were just filling shelves instead of helping cut the queue down. The kiosks seem to open fom about 1:30 onwards. Too late!!! I felt it was not very well organised for an easter weekend when it was very busy. Lots of people were saying the same.

“Great animals! Organisationally it is a bit chaotic though.”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

A lovely place to see some rare animals. They have well thought out pens and look well looked after. It just appears that the handling of lots of visitors is not so well managed - buying tickets takes an age (the people in front of us gave up and went elsewhere - the queues appeared not to move at all!). Too few toilets, more queues for hot food and burgers (staff there did not realise they had no burgers or onions left until they ran out and then decided to cook some more. Everyone seems well meaning but .....
The way they allow staff and contractor vehicles to congregate and manoeuvre in areas full of visitors, esp children, is a worry.
Animals 10/10; Customer Operations 5/10.

“Odd pricing structure.”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

The park is okay as far animal parks go but seemed confused about the pricing. Got a voucher through the door for £5 off entry fee. However, if you book on line then it's 20% discount which actually equated to £4.35 off. Now, here is the kicker if you want to upgrade your visit so you can visit any time for a year you pay £6. Now the reality is my gran daughter who will be 3 in June loved it and no doubt since I upgraded I will bring her willingly but I wait to see what weird pricing they have when my wife buys her ticket to come with us.

“Way over priced and disappointing”
Reviewed April 18, 2014

We too our two grandchildren of 8 and 5 last week and cannot have been more disappointed. Pens looked run down and not many animals to see at all. Saw few elephants two lions and some monkeys, few wild boar and deers. We trudged around hoping for glimpses but more often than not - nothing to be seen. Had to pay extra for treetop challenge and also for our five year old granddaughter to go on a small wooden challenge. This was on top of an already expensive admission price. There were several gift shops at various stops on the way round - surely one at the entrance and exit is enough! Will not go back.
