Have stayed here a couple of times, the hotel is good and as expected for Premier inn. The cost of parking in Canterbury has shot up though since we last stayed and was £23.80 for 24 hours which we weren't expecting. Would probably have been cheaper and easier to book another hotel which has it's own parking. If you're staying on a Friday or Saturday night there is a car park at the leisure centre/college very close by and only £2 per day. Otrherwise it's park and ride for £3.50 but the bus doesn't stop anywhere near the hotel so drop your bags off at hotel first and then you can go park and get the bus into the city centre. The bar and restaurant area was good and menu looked nice but we just had a drink.

Nice clean and comfortable room and a really good buffet breakfast. Only issue I had was the standard Wi-Fi is very slow and cut out regularly, and would not connect to my work laptop. Can pay extra for "ultimate" which is advertised for streaming etc but would have expected basic to be enough for checking emails etc. Otherwise a very pleasant stay

We were really looking forward to staying in Canterbury after a lovely day out. Unfortunately this was ruined by our stay at the Premier. Firstly there is no parking whatsoever, not even any marked drop off bays....good luck if you have young children, disabled, elderly etc! The food was mediocre, and the restaurant staff lacked customer service. Not only were we not offered the meal deals by the waiter (even though these were clearly offered to other guests) but even a smile or friendly service was also too much effort. Very disappointing!! Training clearly lacking in customer service! To top all this off we hardly slept at all! Yes it’s situated on a busy road so we expected the road noise, only this was not what kept us awake, it was the staff that kept us awake. They spent the majority of the night laughing and shouting in the staff room which the noise is clearly heard in the customers bedrooms!! This was also accompanied by the staff constantly slamming the door!! No consideration or professionalism whatsoever! So a very expensive stay for no sleep, very bad customer service and very mediocre food! This had to be the worst hotel stay ever! Never ever again.

WhitbreadHotels, Guest Relations at Canterbury City Centre Premier Inn, responded to this reviewResponded 4 weeks ago

Hi there

Thanks for taking the time to share your review.

It's a shame to hear that your stay at Premier Inn ruined your time in Canterbury, this certainly isn't the experience we hope for our guests to have.

In regards to parking, we do provide parking information on our website so guests can ensure it's suitable before booking and this hotel does have drop off and disabled only parking at the back of the hotel, so I'm sorry if this wasn't clear and will pass your comments on.

I've also raised your feedback with the Hotel and Restaurant Managers so they can follow this up internally with their teams and implement any retraining and actions so as to ensure your experience is not repeated/

We hope this hasn't put you off booking with us in future.

Kind Regards

Amy

Lovely hotel, room spacious and bed so comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and friendly and its close to the centre 5 min walk. Tesco express is right next door for late night snacks however there is also a vending machine in reception. Breakfast was lovely too with a range of food and juices which were always replenished quickly without the need to ask. Would definately stay here again.
