We've been a few times now to Salt, the msot recent was for my birthday. Always good food with a varied menu. it doesn't really matter what you order. The venison meatballs were incredible. Friendly waiter and relaxed atmosphere. Has the potential to be pretentious but superbly sidesteps this issue. Great stuff. Bit pricey but best restaurant in Canterbury.

Lunch on Valentine's was a real treat -there was a full range of the Salt standards - game, winter veg and local seafood but with added romantic sharing platters of scallops and the most amazing puds! Thank you for making my elderly parents very happy with the deliciousness.

This was one of my options found on Trip Adviser! And it was a real treat. A small menu, chalked up on a blackboard, with the emphasis on game. Small portions of 'mains' and side dishes. A form of tapas. The quality of the food was excellent and it was locally sourced where possible. Pheasant, game, scallops, wild boar, venison, even the veggies were different - monk's beard anyone? Lovely. Staff were very friendly and the kitchen was open plan. Only problem was it closed in the afternoon and people were being turned away sadly. Those of us who got in on time before the kitchen closed, were welcome to sit as long as we wanted to. I can't recommend it highly enough if you want a food experience that is just that bit different. Ambiance was bistro- wooden tables and brick walls.

We visited in December on the recommendation of a local restaurant that was fully booked. We were not disappointed – the staff were excellent and the food delicious, with some unusual choices on offer. Highly recommended for dinner or lunch in Canterbury city centre.

Different menu overtime always beautiful food and wine.

Great for small parties as you share so don't go with someone who isn't good at sharing.
