Went for an early lunch on the hottest day of the year so far. Eating outside was too hot so grabbed a table inside. Charming and efficient staff. Excellent choice of numerous, reasonably priced "taster" dishes. Plus a good range of different soft drinks and well chosen beers.
A Jug of iced water produced and basket of fresh breads without being ask for.
The food was absolutely excellent. Prepared on the counter in front of us and delivered as fresh as humanly possible.
Superb ambience. Reasonably priced. Excellent food.
First class service and as a bonus a smart, spotless loo!
IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS.

Interesting and tasty collection of small "tapas" style dishes, good atmosphere and service just on the edge of the centre of town

I live In San Francisco and used to high end food. This is up there. Everything was great from very friendly staff to just good wholesome fresh food. The home dried tomatoes are a must taste.

Was wandering around Canterbury with my sister looking for somewhere to eat lunch and was struck by the simplicity of this place, loved the slate grey facade with the lovely ' salt' logo and the contrasting colourful benches outside. So happy we decided to eat here, I had the broiled vegetables with a walnut pesto and my sister the delicious filling soup, a very good lager and coffee to finish. The food was fresh and fantastic. Both the owners and staff were delightful and definitely added to our visit ! Can't wait to eat there again :)

Strolling down Palace Street on a sunny day this week, came across the new Salt restaurant, and what a delightful surprise.

The food is deceptively simple-small inspired individual plates using local produce.

I had pea and ham soup, with large fleshy pieces of hock and the freshest possible peas with home made bread and butter, then three giant crevettes with saffron mayo and succulent pulled pork.

Had to finish with the local rhubarb and macaroon trifle.

The place is an explosion of bright colours (try to sit outside) and the staff should work for Cambridge Tourist Board, friendly, fun and informative.

A treat!
