“Totally transforming Burgate. Best deli cafe”

I was blown away by how welcome I was made to feel. Front half deli, and back room art, meeting, chill room like the best found in trendy Hoxton, London. But Beanhead have their own special identity and are transforming Burgate from its dark not too distant past. The food is competitively priced and there are many deals to be had. I had the lunchtime special and went back to try the breakfast warmer! Both excellent. With a makers market emerging outside and a gathering of local artists work and calling cards available from writers, poets and fine artists, it really has a creative feeling. There's nothing like it in the area. My family we very impressed with the selection of meals available and the continental selection of goods available to buy, ingredients used in all the food on the menu!
Recommend the manchego and chorizo and side salad panini.

Situated at the top of Burgate, just on the city wall, this little cafe/deli is in a handy location for me. I'd used the previous cafe that held these premises, and hoped the new one would be as good.

First impressions were good - it's attractively laid out, and there are a reasonable number of vegetarian options on the chalk board. Service was very friendly and whilst the prices were a little on the steep side the bagels, panini and baguettes looked to be made with fresh ingredients.

Sadly the panino I ordered for takeaway was a big dissappointment. The bread had the chewiness of day old ciabatta, either the whole panino was left over from the day before, or the bread wasn't fresh that day. The mozzarella was grated from a hard block (the sort designed for cheap pizzas) rather than the better quality soft type normally used in sandwiches. The basil was fine, and the tomatoes okay, although not particularly flavourful. Very disappointing, particularly at the price.
