Room was tiny, could barely walk round the bed. Sheet straight onto bed no mattress protector, the mattress was stained really bad with what looked like urine and coffee. The bed was very uncomforatable. Pillows were like boulders, hard as rock, cheapest you could possibly buy. Duvet cover had a rip in it to show a dirty duvet inside, again very cheap quality. TV you could barely watch from bed as it was so small. Bathroom very tiny, very noisy toilet, sink was a small corner one, could not use for a proper wash.
Person in the room next to us had his telly on until 1.30am, the walls are very thin.
Very noisy location, bar/club banging out music until God knows what time, then the drunks f'ing and blinding outside as they walked pass. Windows rattled all night, which made a hell of a noise. You just drop off to sleep then the bin men come round at 6.00am, with the sound of bottles smashing about as they are emptied into the truck.
Did not feel refreshed in the morning, me and my daughter felt like a heap of poo, not refreshed. Continental breakfast was not good, cheep produce, not much choice. Toaster didn't work, then tried the other one which took forever to even get a slight toasting. The whole place is very dated, much of 1980's decor.
The only good thing to say about the place is the location is excellent.

We stayed in a family room in the Greyfriar’s Lodge.
It was quaint, very clean & in a great location close to town centre.
It was helpful to be able to leave our luggage before check in. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Beds were comfortable & cosy. Breakfast adequate.
Stairs to second floor were steep.

Don’t believe the negative reviews on here - we had a lovely stay. Great little find - near the high street & great value for money. Staff friendly & helpful, lovely 13th C chapel gardens & the noise level was fine. I did use earplugs but slept well & it was great to be so near the town. Generous continental breakfast. We’d definitely stay here again.

My family stayed there during my graduation in July 2018.
Firstly, the place has no clear entry or reception.
The breakfast times had not been made clear so "we arrived too late".
Then, the staff "arranged" our parking payment (which costed us extra): we were fined as there were probably issues with the method of payment. At the hotel we were ensured not to worry as they would have taken care of it as it was their responsibility. They have done nothing! Up to today's date our emails have went unnoticed and the penalty charge increased of value due to late payment.

What a lovely place Canterbury is! Quite magical. The hotel was clean and great value for money! Owners were very polite and helpful! I would definitely recommend staying there! Great for the centre of town!
