The good parts are that the location is superb, bang in the middle of Canterbury. Rooms clean, staff friendly and the breakfast is very good value and sets you up for the day. On the downside rooms are small and so you would not want to spend a lot of time in then, shower was patchy with little power and some of the arrangements a bit bizarre, only 4 hangers in a wardrobe which is not helpful for 2 people staying for 3 days, room cleaned on the second day whilst we were at breakfast and before we had showered.

Enjoyed our stay - pleasant staff, charming room. Very central which was great, close to the Cathedral and restaurants, pubs etc....but it would have been nice to get a call or email in advance to say The Friars was closed for some maintenance which meant you couldn't drive there. Also to say the hotel has a deal for parking as we paid over £9 for the afternoon on Ringgo instead of £6 for 24 hours. Not the end of the world but a bit of a pain.

Room Tip: Call in advance to discuss.

Loved this hotel and Canterbury, the hotel is situated right in the centre so easy access to all the bars and restaurants.
Check in - parking is difficult so you get 24 hrs in a public car park for £6 sorted at the desk. All the staff were friendly and extremely helpful.
We had a small but lovely room at the top with a nice en suite. The hotel is old but clean with a good bar area.
Breakfast had the best choices I've come across - eggs benedict, smoked salmon, full english, continental, various ways with eggs.
We didn't use the restaurant but the decor and atmosphere were calm and pretty.
Would definitely return.
The only suggestion would be to mention which car park to use as there are several so this would be helpful.

The hotel was absolutely lovely and incredibly accommodating! After discovering that we had misread the check-in time, the hotel staff went out of their way to make a room up for us so the family could get ready for my brother's graduation. The room was absolutely spotless and the staff were delightful. Location is great and incredibly well priced - would absolutely recommend!

We booked a quadruple room and discovered that we had two adjoining rooms which was great for the family.
The hotel was located next to the theatre within the city walls, so very good location
There was a good breakfast that came free with the night.
The beds were comfortable, overall a good value for the price.
Staff were very helpful and thoughtfully provided us fans in the hot weather.
