Description: A traditional, independent city-centre restaurant serving traditional English food - including Afternoon Teas and Sunday Roasts - freshly cooked at sensible prices. We are the nearest restaurant to The Marlowe Theatre and located just one minute from the High Street. The kitchen is open daily from 12 pm to 9 pm and the bar remains open until 11 pm everyday except Sunday, 10.30 pm.

Did not stay at hotel but ate an appalling meal; there was only one other couple in the restaurant and it still took over half an hour to be served! Coffee was cold, the burger was returned to be cooked properly and the chips were also cold. As was the restaurant. Staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. Would not recommend to anyone.

Although in a central location the restaurant was certainly not busy, when we arrived for our meal at 7.15 there were only two other people in the restaurant and when we left at 9.15pm no one else had come in for a meal. The waiting staff were cheerful and friendly but the food was poor. I ordered the pan fried breast of chicken but asked them to leave off the honey and thyme sauce which was replaced by normal gravy which was too over powering and was exactly the same as our friend's meal who had the calves liver. I could not eat all of my meal because of this. We also ordered the syrup sponge pudding which was over cooked in a microwave and we pointed this out to the waitress where we were given 50% of the sweet part of our bill.

We have no intention of going there again!
