From the moment we arrived at this lovely hotel we were made to feel welcome. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic in telling us all about the hotel and delivered excellent customer service. The room 'Tranquility' was lovely, had everything we needed and more! A great view and a lovely comfy bed. We loved the historical feel of the place, with its wonky floors and uneven ceilings because despite the modern décor it maintains its olde world charm.
We had breakfast delivered to our room, what a treat it was delicious!
We liked it so much we booked again for December.

This is a lovely place to stay, with comfy, well-equipped rooms and incredibly helpful staff. Breakfast is delivered to your room on request - which you're going to want to take advantage of if you get a room with a good cathedral view.

It's next-but-one to the main entrance to the cathedral so is convenient for all main sights in Canterbury, and is less than 10 minutes' walk from Canterbury West train station.

I'll definitely be returning if I find myself staying in Canterbury again.

Room Tip: Joy (the name of the room) had an absolutely stunning view of the cathedral. Nab it if you can!

I stayed here last night and it was a great place! Right in the centre, lovely old building - deceptively large! Clean, large room with new bathroom, power shower and 4 poster bed. Breakfast was filling (just had the continental) and service first class. Reasonably priced and even the drinks at the bar were super value! Highly recommend!

The name just tell you where to find the hotel.Do not imagine modern fancy one, think about home in front of the town square. You have the privilege of viewing the Cathedral from back of the hotel or perhaps from your room. The room with queen bed and bunk bed suit my family with 2 teens.
Nice bedding and clean bathroom but a bit tiny. The reception staff is friendly. The set breakfast is OK,but the dinning room floor is a bit slanted.Just love it.

Room Tip: Queen bed with bunk bed is good for family with 2 kids. But bunk bed is OK for me too.

I stay here once a year when in Canterbury for the Kent beer festival. Perfect location being on the doorstep of Cathedral Gate, opposite Butter Market in the heart if old Canterbury. Management and staff only too happy to help, great breakfast and very reasonably priced too!
It's like going back in time with the maze of rooms, creaking corridors , shared WC & showers on some floors - but I wouldn't want it any other way. See you next year!

My room was in the attic! It was a single room, you would never get a double bed in one so small. It boasted "Cathedral views" Well, I could see the towers! The building is very, very old and it was hard to find a bit of floor that was not on a slant. made one feel a bit tipsy! The continental breakfast was substantial, provided the staff got the message that you wanted the FULL continental.(the full English breakfast was £7.50 extra!) It cost £6 a day to park the car. The nearest car park was 5 minutes walk away! Its main attraction was that it was next to the gate of the cathedral (hence the name) right in the centre of the town. Too many staff to get to know any of them but, they were friendly and helpful to a man and woman.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lower floors and avoid all the narrow stairs!

Stunning hotel (older than the Cathedral gate itself) run by a lovely couple whom did everything they could to make our stay memorable. Dont be put off by the shared bathrooms 9I must admit, I was a little when I read about it) but the bathrooms have just be redone and are stunning (The one on the top floor facing the cathedral has the most incredible view). Our room (Daybreak) looked out over the cathedral and the view was stunning mornign and night. The breakfast (which you can have in your room) was absolutely delicious and the character of the hotel is exceptional/ Loved it! excellent location, would definately come back!

Room Tip: Our room (Daybreak) had an amazing view of the Cathedral - def worth mentioning you want a view (may...
