A lovely place for a picnic when the weather is nice and a nice place for a walk regardless of the weather as long as it is dry. Can get pretty packed in lovely weather.

Thank Emma S

Always my first choice on a summers day. The gardens are splendid and the people it attracts fill the atmosphere with that sublime summer feeling. Great for children too if you carry on to the end there is a play park.

Far from the maddening crowd, but just a stone throw from the city of Canterbury.

Get to Canterbury, Head for the Westgate tower and you will see the gardens alongside the Council Offices. Comprising a couple of acres they are planted with floral displays throughout the year, the river Stour runs through them on which you can take a ride on a punt if you wish.

Beautiful trees, flowers and secluded places to sit amongst the greenery or in the medievial ruins of an old church. Watch the Ducks on the river or the fish in it easily viewable from a couple of bridges. Bring a picnic if you will in fine weather or there are plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance ranging from top class reaturants to more modest and reasonably priced cafe's, sandwhich and noodle bars, there really is something for everyone.

No childrens playground unfortunatly but still a delightfull place to visit. Make it part of YOUR visit to Canterbury, especially if you are on a limited budget. Nothing could be finer in an Englih Cathederal town.

I often pass through the gardens on my way into the city, and they are beautiful, with the river flowing through, the traditionally landscaped gardens and pleasant crossings. Only negative is that in the day time there are often 'less lively' persons frequenting the benches drinking, or in the summer 'youths' smoking the dreaded devils weed. Neither are particularly threatening, but it does take away from the gardens and could be done with being policed better, to maximize the pleasure of this lovely site.

It's beautiful and the ducks are lovely. You do get some human lowlife in this park though, that try and hurt the animals and take drugs. If they could be exterminated, the human lowlives, we would all be much happier.
