Far from the maddening crowd, but just a stone throw from the city of Canterbury.
Get to Canterbury, Head for the Westgate tower and you will see the gardens alongside the Council Offices. Comprising a couple of acres they are planted with floral displays throughout the year, the river Stour runs through them on which you can take a ride on a punt if you wish.
Beautiful trees, flowers and secluded places to sit amongst the greenery or in the medievial ruins of an old church. Watch the Ducks on the river or the fish in it easily viewable from a couple of bridges. Bring a picnic if you will in fine weather or there are plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance ranging from top class reaturants to more modest and reasonably priced cafe's, sandwhich and noodle bars, there really is something for everyone.
No childrens playground unfortunatly but still a delightfull place to visit. Make it part of YOUR visit to Canterbury, especially if you are on a limited budget. Nothing could be finer in an Englih Cathederal town.
