“My favourite place in canterbury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

Once upon a time I flirted with veganism. This place was a lifesaver. The food is interesting and tasty. The best darned vegan cupcakes anywhere, so good in fact, that even though I have returned to my carnivorous ways, I will gladly and willingly tuck into one of their cupcakes any time!
The portions are good, the choice is varied and changes (except the bean burger.....mmmmmmm), Im always in a dilemma of what to choose! The price is good for what you get. Frankly there is nothing I want to criticise about the Veg Box. I have and will continue to return time and time again.
If you go at peak times be prepared to share a table or wait for one to become spare.

“Great Place to Eat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

The Veg Box serves great homemade food, all the cakes are made on the premises and I highly recommend the raw chocolate cheese cake, last time I was extravagant and had vegan icecream with it! There is usually something different to try as they have daily specials, and if you only want a snack that is ok too. They are now open in the evenings from wednesdays to saturdays which is a great bonus as there are so few places to eat where it is only veggie and vegan. It is licensed in the evening and we had a delicious glass of wine with our meal. Access to the cafe in the evening is from the rear in Hawks lane but the little extra walk is well worth it.Give it a try day or night you won't be dissappointed. They use locally sourced organic produce too.

“The best kept secret in Canterbury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2012

The Veg Box can be accessed during shop hours via Canterbury Wholefoods but I believe from September they are going to be opening in the evenings- hurrah! Canterbury, as great as it is, does cater very much for the students and if you are older it can be quite hard to find somewhere cooky, interesting and healthy to eat. the Veg Box is just that- like Central Perk but vegetarian. I'm not veggie but I still go there all the time as the food is amazing and the staff are just lovely. In the evenings there is a comedy night and an experimental film/music/poetry night each week www.free-range.co which I go to and always have the best time there. I am really looking forward to the Veg Box being open in the evenings. It would be even better if they had acoustic music nights - perfect in that setting and seems to always draw the loveliest people to it. Beetroot chocolate brownie and nettle tea by the way- AMAZING.

“Not only for Veggies”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2012

This cafe is off the high street and certainly not a chain restaurant. Situated above a health food shop the food is of course vegetarian but as a meat eater the food makes a pleasant change. The menu does change slightly with the favourite ones being there every visit. The food is well presented, good portions and reasonably priced. If you are a meat eater go for the bean burger which is well seasoned. Be adventerous and try the chocolate and beetroot brownie, much better than you could imagine. If you want to escape the busy high street and try something different it's worth a visit.

“Excellent veggie/ vegan place away from the High St hustle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2012

Great place to hide out if you have braved Canterbury High St on the weekend.

Lovely choice of veggie and vegan food...also caters for other food intolerances.

Food is yummy! Cakes are too!

And yuo can pop down to the health store downstairs after your food and shop!!
