The Dolphin hit the ground running when it opened a few years ago and hasn't looked back since. The combination of vintage styling and traditional pub atmosphere are unique in Canterbury. This is show by the unrivalled popularity amongst the bürgers of the city.

The food is of excellent quality and plenteous and the selection of beverages is varied and ever changing. The main draw is the beer garden in the summer. In addition look out for the charismatic proprietor with his dogs in tow: he has so far done a fantastic job.

Ordered the home made cottage pie and asked for peas, only to be told we don't have peas, the most common veg in the country. So it came after a fifty minute wait with carrots and cabbage which were awful. The pie however had peas in it so is not homemade as stated. This had been microwaved to an inch of its life ,and took thirty minutes to cool enough to eat. Not a nice experience . would not go back.

Food was plentiful and well cooked and very tasty. Steak was cooked to perfection as was the calamari. The young waitresses were very professional and polite and the food was served without having to wait too long even though the pub was full. If you want good food at reasonable prices that isn't too fancy then the Dolphin is an excellent place to go.

Had a lovely meal at this restaurant - recommended by someone who worked at a bar in town. Food excellent and although the service a little slow, well worth a visit. We went on a Sunday night and they had a fantastic piano player.

We've beating eating and drinking at The Dolphin for a number of years. Great selection of beers, with local brews on tap. Well kept and varied. Drinks fairly priced. The staff are friendly and attentive. The pub does tend to get very busy (especially in the summer as the garden is brilliant), and it's a regular stop on uni pubs crawls so be warned! The food is good, honest pub grub, but we've eaten there a few times over the last 5 years and the menu has not changed! The food is good (and generous portions) but please please update the menu - or at least offer specials. There are only so many burgers or nachos we can eat. Same goes for the puddings. Would like to eat here for another 5 years plus, but the staleness of the menu is a little off putting.
