“having a laugh”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

Ordered the home made cottage pie and asked for peas, only to be told we don't have peas, the most common veg in the country. So it came after a fifty minute wait with carrots and cabbage which were awful. The pie however had peas in it so is not homemade as stated. This had been microwaved to an inch of its life ,and took thirty minutes to cool enough to eat. Not a nice experience . would not go back.

“Good Food in a Lively Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Food was plentiful and well cooked and very tasty. Steak was cooked to perfection as was the calamari. The young waitresses were very professional and polite and the food was served without having to wait too long even though the pub was full. If you want good food at reasonable prices that isn't too fancy then the Dolphin is an excellent place to go.

“Great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

Had a lovely meal at this restaurant - recommended by someone who worked at a bar in town. Food excellent and although the service a little slow, well worth a visit. We went on a Sunday night and they had a fantastic piano player.

“Good pub grub - menu needs refreshing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

We've beating eating and drinking at The Dolphin for a number of years. Great selection of beers, with local brews on tap. Well kept and varied. Drinks fairly priced. The staff are friendly and attentive. The pub does tend to get very busy (especially in the summer as the garden is brilliant), and it's a regular stop on uni pubs crawls so be warned! The food is good, honest pub grub, but we've eaten there a few times over the last 5 years and the menu has not changed! The food is good (and generous portions) but please please update the menu - or at least offer specials. There are only so many burgers or nachos we can eat. Same goes for the puddings. Would like to eat here for another 5 years plus, but the staleness of the menu is a little off putting.

“Atmosphere Great, Food Great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

Firstly the Union Flag on the wall is fantastic and I recently bought my own from an antique shop because theirs looks so brilliant on their wall. The food is great, portions are not horribly large which is amazing. And the drinks are lovely. The staff are not in your face but at the same time really really friendly and genuine! Fantastic place for just drinks in the garden or nice dinner :-)
