Lovely place very warm and friendly. Great food great service! Would definitely return. It is a very quiet area in Cantebury. But not far from the main street. We talked with the owner a bit. His son was leaving for the South of France to be with his Grandparents for the summer. You felt like you were part a family also.

The Saffron cafe is very good. I have been at all times of year and love it. When the suns out the garden is an amazing venue and you really get a med feel with the vine running above your head. I love the all day breakfast and the menu is good value. Service can be slow when they are busy but then you always get that.
This is a great venue and you really can lose your self in the gardens wonderful atmosphere.

I had a full english breakfast. The welcome was warm and friendly. The food was freshly cooked and of high quality. The coffee was superb. The ambience was busy and lively. The service was excellent from what is clearly a family run restaurant, all of the staff look like each other !!!
The location is in a quiet area away from the milling crowds, yet still convenient to walk to the cathedral. The price was good. You will not be disappointed.

On arriving at the Saffron Café I was a little disappointed to see that meat eaters got an all-day breakfast, however the vegetarian breakfast stopped at 11am.

However my disappointment was short lived as there were plenty of other veggie options on the menu such as ciabattas, paninis, baked potatoes, pastas etc.

We sat out in the garden which was lovely on a sunny day, my other half and I ordered a ciabatta and panini respectively, which both came with salad garnish and potato crisps. The staff were really friendly and attentive and our food came very quickly (we were the only ones there).

However when our food arrived, my disappointment returned as the portions were particularly small. We both had about 5 crisps each and the Panini had minimal filling, a lot was just toasted bread without any filling at all. The ciabatta was not much better and on an expecting the filling, it looked very sparse.

It was a shame as this place had such a nice garden and friendly staff, however due to the portion sizes I don’t think we will be going back :(
