An incredible building steeped in history. Thomas of Beckett obviously, but the Plantagenet dynasty is also well represented. The stained glass windows are stunning. I'd recommend the guided tour. Not expensive (5 pounds) and you get more out of the place then.

Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest and most famous monuments in England. The Cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church make up Canterbury's World Heritage Site. The Cathedral has some impressive stained glass windows including the one of Thomas Becket. A truly beautiful place with a rich history. A must see...

So big, so old, so well maintained. Even if you are not a religious person you need to see this place. So much history hanging on the walls and in the ground. We spent a solid 4 hours here and could easily have spent more.

Like many of the things on our trip, this place could get crazy busy in the summer or other busy times. If you are travelling during peak season you need to get there as early as humanly possible.

Parking for us (in late September) was fine, but in the summertime...........yikes.

It costs money, but to expect something like this to be free is just ignorant.

An impressive building and beautifully preserved, there is a lot to see with many chambers and anti rooms, helpful signage and descriptions, I'm sure if the sun had been shining the light through the vast stain glass windows would have been impressive.

Atmospheric, a great holy place, magnificent stained glass . A miracle the WW2 bombs did little damage. God blessed.
