“WHAT HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE”

Admission is expensive (£9.50) but worth it as the place is steeped in history, has great displays and if you are lucky as we were a fabulous choir singing. The architecture is magnificent too

“Amazing architecture”

The scale and size of the place is amazing, especially given how long ago it was built. A must place to visit if you are in Canterbury.

“canterbury cathedral”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

Entrance ticket far too expensive. A church should always be free - as is Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur in Paris. There could be a prominant box for donations.
No feeling of a real church, more like a museum.

“Center of Historic Canterbury”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

I've been to the cathedral several times whilst I was a student in Canterbury, but my last visit was the first in which I had to pay. As a graduate I no longer get free entry like those with UKC or CCCU student cards do. I hear lots of whinging about the price of entry to the cathedral, but what I think its important to remember is the sheer cost of keeping a building like this in good condition and open to the public. 22 million pounds a year doesnt earn itself, and there would be a lot more moaning were the building to fall into disrepair. Therefore, having visited the cathedral as a paying guest, I can still say wholeheartedly that it is well worth it, and I thoroughly recommend it. Just make sure you don't rush your visit, and take your time. Talking to the guides is well worth it; they really know their stuff.
