“Very nice, impressive, must visiting in Centerbury”

Here was the shrine of Thomas Becket, visit by pilgrims during the early Middle Ages. Chauser wrote based on this the famous Canterbury Tales. The cathedral and crypt are open for public, you can even take photos. Walk around the church, at the far end of the navy there are some nice ruins. The inner yard is also very beatiful. The entrance ticket is quite high with almost 10GBP. Trick: after 3pm wasn't anybody at the ticket office. Furthermore from the backyard you could enter the church without paying. But paying the entrance ticket you are supporting the restoration of the church.

“Just the most amazing place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

Despite huge numbers of people and overseas schools parties, it was till possible to find peace and tranquility in this truly astonishing building. The guides dotted around were very helpful. Where particular features were labelled there was just the right amount of information without needing to read "War & Peace". A picture of the religious history of Britain almost in just this one building. I was expecting something quite pompous, given its status but instead it was very welcoming.

“Take time to visit one of the oldest and most famous Cathedrals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

I visited Canterbury, on a day trip tour out of London and it was well worth it. We spent about 2 hours in the Cathedral, which was about right. If you have more time the town itself has some great shopping and restaurants.

Canterbury Cathedral in Kent, is one of the most famous Christian structures in England and is a World Heritage Site. The Cathedral is very clean and well kept, it is very apparent that it is still a functioning church and the reverence is very apparent. Like most buildings of it's age, the building is almost constantly going thorough renovation, but it didn't interfere with tour and it was still well worth the visit. The history of the site alone is well worth the few hours.

There is a gift shop on site that was well organized and most of the proceeds go to the upkeep of the Cathedral.

If you have the time, this is a must see of Kent. We were able to see this in addition to a stop in Dover and it made for a lovely day away from London.

Lovely atmospheric place to visit. Entry price not too bad, but I still find it add paying to go into a church.
