“A River Boat View of Canterbury!”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

After a long day looking around Canterbury it was great way to relax and have a nice sit down. As it was a speciel birthday we asked if we could have a privite boat at around 7 o clock. The man that did our tour waited especielly for us and was the only one there! As a party of 12 there was quite a lot of us but we filled a whole boat with plenty of space. There were blankets and cushions so it was fairly comfortable and kept us warm. The water was shallow so you could see all the plants and the fish. There was some very low bridges though! Our guide seem to know a lot about the suroudnings and history and happily answered any of our questions. I still dont know how he manged to push the boat with all of us in! Overall a good experience with a beautiful river boat tour of Canterbury! Highly Recomend!

“Good tour, but no leg room”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

We were in our way to the Historic River Tours company, the competitor, when we saw this group trying to attract people on High Street. I asked what the difference was in the their tour and the guy really hammed up how their boats are so much more comfortable and "include a nice blanket" to sit on or keep warm with or something. He then gave me a two pound discount on the tickets so we went with them. The tour was nice, the guide was good. I'm sure he might have been better had it not been some locals on the boat out for something to keep their unruly children occupied, the two adults talked away constantly while their children climbed around over everyone. I would say you can't blame the guide for that, but he purposely squeezed in these four onto an already full boat. Each boat can only comfortably accommodate 6 people but they put 10 on ours. That meant no leg room, since these are virtually flat boats, if it's crowded you have to sit cross legged, my legs were cramping and falling asleep and I literally had no room to extend them and provide any blood flow. I loved the history aspect and the nice meandering gently ride, but couldn't wait to get off to stretch my legs.

As we punted down the river we passed many of the competitors boats, everyone was sitting upright with plenty of legroom.

“A unique trip!”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

Whilst walking down the main street an agent for the company stopped us and gave us a deal for three adults for £20 - a saving of £4. Really glad the agent approached us - what a brilliant trip! The river is very shallow but also very clear so you can see plenty of fish. Our tour guide "Ian" was fab - very funny, informative and seemed to love what he did. The trip itself went along the quaint old streets of Canterbury going underneath ancient houses. Not to be missed!

“Canterbury Punting Company a relaxed way to meet Canterbury”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

We actually got there by accident, our son needed to go to the bathroom urgently, and we entered a café. There we saw that they also did boattrips, and it looked us a very good idea to learn a bit about the city and it's history. We could leave immediately, for the price of £20. We all 4 (parents & kids - one of 7 of 10) loved it, it's amazing how relaxing the city is from the waterside ... also a big thank you to our guide, probably the best story teller of all England, Miguel, Great. One day we want to be in his boat on the Thames River. Thanks for the nice trip.

“Very well done.”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

This is a great way of seeing Canterbury on a sunny afternoon. From the river you see so many of the city's historic buildings up close and personal and the punt is so leisurely, there is no danger of missing anything. Our guide was very informative - a little theatrical, but it goes down well with the foreign tourists. The punt holds up to 12 people, so you have to share your trip, but you can book private tours, and I would recommend this if there are four or more of you.
