We were a largish party and were pleased with our meals on the whole. Each dish was well proportioned for a four course meal but would be a little on the light side if only having two courses. Very high standard of food and presentation. Service very attentive though not intrusive.

Great food, presented well by polite and attentive staff.
Much of food is produced by the restaurant on their own small holding and so food is fresh and in season.
Well worth a visit.

Definitely the best restaurant in Canterbury. Traditional English cooking at its best, beautifully prepared and presented with pleasant and helpful service to match. A little too expensive as an everyday eaterie but for a treat or as a special occasion this is the place to go. A welcome change from the ubiquitous pizza/pasta restaurants dominating the High St.
Central location (100M from the Cathedral) makes it an ideal destination for Canterbury visitors and even better for us residents!
The wine list is conservative but great value when compared to London restaurants--plenty of bottles around the £20-25 mark.
Private dining rooms available upstairs at no extra cost if you prefer a degree of privacy--and a great view of the Cathedral from the ladies bathroom (so my wife tells me!)

Cost?--3X2 courses plus a bottle of sparking wine and a bottle of Vioigner-£ 125:00.
Just too full for the dessert course!
Will be returning soon!

We ate here after the morning Service in the Cathedral. It's obviously popular because by 1345 it was full. And no wonder. Solicitous and friendly staff who are clearly passionate about good food and service made it a great lunching experience. The set menu is imaginative and varied and the flavours of all beautifully judged mix of ingredients in each dish came through clearly. The pigeon breast starter was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Every other course (and between us we had 6 different items) was perfect. Compliments were sent to the chef! There was also an unusual and excellent wine list which was far from expensive. The restaurant's claim of sourcing local ingredients has clearly paid dividends. Our usual test - "Would we come again?" Resoundingly "Yes! Again - and again...."
