This B&B is in a very old building only a few minutes walk to the heart of Canterbury. We stayed in the Boston Room in the main building and it had an exceptionally comfortable king size bed. It was a very friendly atmosphere and the breakfast was delicious. An excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: On their website there are details of each room such as bed size and facilities. We found this helpf...

We always look forward to our annual Christmas visit to Canterbury..to be able to park in Canterbury is certainly a bonus, together with the beautiful peaceful garden...all secured.
From the moment you enter the house a warm welcome awaits you in this historic and homely
house..so peaceful and relaxing.
After a restful night the delights of an excellent breakfast awaits you.
We have already booked our room for this coming Christmas.

Room Tip: we always book a room overlooking the garden, but all the rooms are excellent

Four of stayed in the stable rooms last week for a post Xmas visit to Canterbury. We had a warm welcome from Sandy and our rooms were comfortable and cosy (excellent showers!) Sure, it was a tricky drive through the archway to the ample parking at the back but well worth it. Because of the excellent location we did not need the car again anyway. We enjoyed 5 star breakfasts and for evening dining we would recommend The Goods Shed , Chapman's Fish Restaurant (200 yards down the road) and Deesons (near the cathedral). Also, the green badge tour giving us interesting insight and information was a really good start to a memorable visit to Canterbury!

Delighted to be able to book in at House of Agnes having been unsuccessful in the past. I am sure the feature rooms are wonderful - we were offered the chance to see them but short of time -but found the stable room perfect. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was clean and warm. The bathroom had underfloor heating - real bonus. Breakfast was plentiful - good fruit salad, yoghurts, fruit juices, cereals and a choice of hot dishes including the 'Full Kentish' - recommended. We didn't use them but appreciated the honesty bar, the boxed games and DVDs for loan and daily papers. Great location, love it and hope to return.

Room Tip: Need to ring the hotel to discuss and avoid disappointment.

Thank you for your very kind review and for the positive things you had to say about the House of Agnes.
Its amusing that you pointed out the underfloor heating which, it appears, is very much appreciated when the weather is not so great! Warm toes when you step on bathroom tiles is quite a nice surprise it seems, so thank you for noticing :-)

We really loved this hotel. From the moment I arrived, we were made to feel really welcome. We haven't stayed there for years and they have put a lot of work into it since. The decorations are lovely and the staff are wonderful. We stayed in one of the Stable Rooms (with the king size flexible bed) and felt really comfortable. You can tell that it is two beds zipped together but it feels safe and there is no danger of falling through. If you don't want that, go for the double bed option. You can also hear the trains but this didn't stop us having a brilliant nights sleep. If you are a very light sleeper, maybe stay in the actual hotel. We couldn't hear anything at all last time we stayed there. I think I preferred the Stable though. Noise wise, i think most other hotels in Canterbury would be worse.

Location wise, it is ideal. St Dunstans is right next to the old town but not actually in the walls so no drunken shouting outside your room.

I go to Canterbury quite a lot and now wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We ended up at the House of Agnes because the Falstaff, over the road, was full. Well, if we go back to Canterbury we will go back to the House of Agnes. Apart from the slightly hair raising experience of trying to drive our car through the archway to the car parking at the back, it was perfect. From the booking of the place to leaving, they got everything right. The staff were very friendly and helpful - our son has a serious food allergy and they understood it and explained what he could and couldn't eat - which for us is a massive cause of stress normally. We stayed in the Stables, nice, warm, spacious rooms with plenty of hot water. The main part of the House itself is charming and both nights we stayed there we enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at the Honesty Bar. What a lovely idea. The location is perfect, being a 1 minute walk from the Westgate and centre of town and two or three nice pubs within metres. Thank you for looking after us so well. Top tips for eating very nearby: Raj Venue curry house and Café du Soleil restaurant.

Like virtually all the other reviewers I found the hotel and its rooms absolutely delightful. Stylish and lots of thought gone into providing everything for those seeking comfort. They have even thought to provide an umbrella in each room.

Most impressive is the standard of service and friendliness. Nothing is too much bother and any request is greeted with a smile.

This efficient, friendly culture starts at the to and filters throughout all the staff.

For those who still need to connect with the outside world the wifi system, even in the stable rooms, is excellent, fast, and hassle free with no sign ups.

Can't think of anything bad to say.
