Description: Childhood friends Enzo Espedito welcome you to a little taste of Napoli with Osteria Posillipo Pizzaria quite likely one of Canterburys friendliest restaurants. Decorated in relaxing woods, this light, airy space has the added bonus of being located near the Marlowe Theatre. An in-house wood-fired stone oven is visible from the open-plan kitchen on the ground floor, allowing hungry diners watch their pizzas bubble away the traditional way. Not in the mood for pizza? Traditional Italian favourites are the name of the game here, including fresh, homemade pasta like spaghetti a vongole.

We liked everything from the warm welcome and attention to our toddler to the fresh and well seasoned dishes. The pasta dishes were excellent (linguini with mussels and clams; baked penne with a fresh tasting tomato sauce) Staff were especially warm and friendly. Prices are reasonable.

Have eaten here before - good for early evening before concert. Great welcome and seating for party of 6. Quick service of both wines and food. Wide Italian menu choice for all needs and ages. Seafood risotto was excellent. During evening the restaurant filled but still comfortable although naturally noisy.
Rate this as one of the most convenient in Canterbury for service and level of food. Well placed to main attractions

Posillipo has some of the best wood fired pizza we have had, anywhere. It is authentic, excellent, fresh, and is offered in many varieties.

They have a special offer for early diners that is a super value. A choice of among four starters, and a choice of one of four or five entrees for GBP 9.95. The entrees include a choice of ANY of their pizzas or three or four other selections including a chicken, fish, vegetarian, and pasta dish.

In lieu of a starter, a dessert may be chosen. Or, all three courses for an additional GBP 3.00. Be aware, however, the portions are very substantial.

I had a pizza, which was excellent and my wife had lemon chicken which was also outstanding.

We would recommned Posillipo to anyone and plan to return soon.

We came across this delightful restaurant during a short visit to Canterbury. Despite not having made a reservation they managed to find a table for us on a busy Friday evening. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and advice on the most appropriate wine was spot on.As well as the excellent food - indeed this was the best meal we had during our stay in the Canterbury area - the convivial atmosphere made it an evening that we will always remember and if we ever visit Canterbury again we know where we will be dining!
