“Walk walk and walk again!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014

We always go for nice long walks when in the IOW a lot of which are on parts of the costal paths. We always enjoy the views and varied terrain. Be careful of the edges of some parts as this winters storm damage has left its mark.

“Shanklin/Sandown and Ventnor/Steephill Cove”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

Both walks were so much fun. We are inspired to do the whole island some day.

Shanklin/Sanddown -Be sure to walk on the beach one way and the cliffs the other for different experiences. Great ice cream at Blueberry Cafe on the cliff walk. Both are easy. We did it with boys ages 8 and 6.

Ventnor/Steephill Cove is about 20 minutes one way. Great fish/crab at the cove. Shame they lost all their sandy beach in the 2014 winter storms.

“Great Views, walked between Sandown and Shanklin, also between Needles and Freshwater”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014

Lovely place for walks... you will enjoy it if you love walking.. it is well signposted... the portion between Sandown and Shanklin -- you could walk along the beach over flat land or do the little more strenuous coastal path along the cliff for breathtaking views.
We also walked 6 miles between Needles and Freshwater going past the Tennyson Down.... simply superb views... rolling meadows, gentle see breeze and blue sea stretching to the horizon... best part of Isle of Wight trip.

“breathtaking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2014

we have been visiting the island for almost 20 years and each time we book up to go my first thoughts are to walk across the cliff top from Shanklin to Sandown or vice versa. The views are fantastic and there are many seats along the way to have a rest if you want. Also there are places to stop for a coffee and a bite to eat.I would definetly recommend if you are ok to walk it is a bit up and down in places but not at all strenuous, you can also do the walk across the front which is flat all the way about 3 miles for the round trip.

“Crumbling away but still some wonderful walks”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2013

The Isle of Wight Coastal path (where it is on the coast) is a truly wonderful place to stroll. There are many places where you will hard pushed to beat the views of the sea, cliffs, etc, etc.
My favourite walks are Shanklin to Ryde and Chale to Yarmouth, the former sadly has a few places where the path has fallen away.
I can only imagine the frustration and amount of work it must take to keep fixing and re routing, but I hope they keep trying to keep it on the coast.
There are some nice walks, Yarmouth to Freshwater is a nice walk to and could be included in a round route from Freshwater, Needles for the fitter walker
