The food left Italy behind.Overpriced, overcooked and really nothing Italian about it. \You can tell they use cheap ingredients and stint on portion size.
When will St Albans open a genuine Italian restaurant that offers woodfired pizzas, and homemade pasta?

Booked here for a quiet 50th birthday meal on the strength of Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. Friendly, cheerful, accommodating service, delicious pizzas and pasta, very good value and highly drinkable house red, reasonable prices, interesting specials. Both children have food allergies and our waiter was only too happy to advise and swap an egg pasta (tagliatelle boscaiola) for one that was egg-free (penne), which is a refreshing change from the chain Italians (Zizzi, Bella Pasta, Pizza Express) where, even when we have alerted them well in advance to special dietary requirements, we're treated as though we're an inconvenience and usually end up having to send dishes back. The tasty food and relaxed, convivial atmosphere mean we will definitely visit La Cosa Nostra again - soon!

We love this place, its basic simple friendly and cheap. Really authentic family style Italian cooking - great pizzas, and nice specials. The staff are always nice, our waitress last night was smiley and lovely and efficient. But..... no seasoning/salt in the pizza dough or pizzas. What should have been really good pizzas by anyone's standards were bland and needed a lot of salt on them. Second time this has happened there. Still love the place, but please get a bit more liberal with the seasoning! :-)

I don't know if the chef in the kitchen is Italian but if he was I'd be totally gobsmacked.
To me, the food served here doesn't have any quality at all; it's like if some friend have just run to the kitchen in a moment o madness to help the owner out.
Having tried many different dishes on the menu, I find them all equally bad. I know it's cheap and that you get for what you pay for. However, not even the cheap price justifies the poor quality of everything. I've been to cheaper Italians than are 3 times better.
The atmosphere is also a let down; overcrowded and extremelly loud.

My wife and I have moved to the area and couldn't be bothered to cook one night, so thought we would stop in here, as it usually seems popular and is just around the corner We were both really glad we did. The service was friendly and cheerful and the food was really good - we had garlic bread with mozzarella to start, each had a pizza and a delicious dessert, called Pastiera di Nonna, with was a custard tart with sugar and pine nuts. We both had drinks and the final bill was only £30. We'll definitely be back.
