Owner description: St Albans Cathedral is the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain. It stands over the place where Alban, the first martyr, was buried after giving his life for his faith over 1700 years ago.The building itself is a blend of architectural styles spanning a millennia and contains recycled Roman bricks from Verulamium. Of special interest are the 13th century wall paintings, a rare watching loft and the shrines of Saint Alban and Amphibalus, the priest who converted Alban to Christianity.

“An incredible building!”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

My friend and I decided to visit St Alban's Cathedral finally, and all our expectations were surpassed. We were given a lovely and fascinating tour by our guide Molly Kennedy. I would urge everyone to visit this magnificent building.

Thank you to everyone at the Cathedral for an enjoyable visit.

Warmest Regards,
Sam.

This is the most interesting and beautiful cathedral I have visited in the Uk. The mixture of architecture and its history makes a visit really worthwhile

“We take this for granted...”

We travel the world and forget the history on our doorstep. The Abbey, the park and the Roman history of the surroundings make this well worth a visit.

“Peaceful beauty”

St Albans Cathedral is a warm, living church unlike any other. It has lots to offer the tourist or pilgrim but importantly it is also a special place in which to spend quiet moments.
