Premier Inn St. Albans/Bricket Wood Hotel

Stayed with the family for two nights primarily to visit Harry Potter studio tour but also went into London.
This could be an absolutely lovely hotel/ resteraunt complex. It's well situated just off the M25 and M1, in a semi rural area with a characterful converted water mill as the adjoining pub. Sadly both the hotel and particularly the pub are in need of significant investment to bring them up to standard. Cleanliness of the hotel was pretty good although there was a smell in the room possibly of damp from the bathroom. The lack of aircon mentioned in other reviews is a problem and the room was uncomfortably warm. Staff were friendly and efficient in ky dealings with them. Just generally the hotel was a bit tired and in need of modernisation to the standards of the more modern Premier Inns.
The pub/resteraunt was a let down however. We had a full breakfast a continental and the children ate free. Firstly the selection was poor and of poor quality from the buffet. Coffee was cold, tea was poor there was a lack of juices. The cooked food was quite nice but the waiter seemed to think he was doing us a massive favour by being there at all and rolled his eyes at my order!
The pub itself despite it's pretty situation is run down - for example the carpets were absolutely filthy and wouldn't have looked out of place in a dodgy nightclub of the type I remember in the 80's. There really is no excuse for a large national chain to let standards slip to that extent. Given the breakfast experience we didn't eat there again preferring the nearby macdonalds for the second day!
In the unlikely event Premier Inn management read this review I reiterate this establishment has the potential to be a real jewel in their crown given it's location/situation but presently it falls far short.

Don't go when it is not Winter. Room was boiling even though quite cool outside. Fan provided so obviously known issue but did not fix the problem. Restaurant could do with a clean up also. Shame as this is a good location and nice old Mill building for restaurant. Not the usual Premier Inn standard here.

Thank you for your review.

It really matters to us that our guests have a comfortable nights sleep, and we sincerely apologise that on this occasion we failed to provide this. We are well aware of the issue of high room temperatures, and are currently in the process of installing air conditioning into all of our hotel branches.

However, this will be a lengthy process, so in the meantime the management team at the hotel have done all they can to help reduce room temperatures. Please be assured your comments have been noted and will be fully investigated.

Once again thank you for your review, we look forward to welcoming you back to Premier Inn in the future.

Stayed here in April in order to attend a friends birthday party in nearby Bricket Wood. Hotel staff were as ever friendly, helpful and attentive. Breakfast was served in the adjoining restaurant which forms part of a fascinating renovated mill situated over the river. The mill wheel was working and this added additional interest to our stay.
The room was on the ground floor, clean and comfortable. Even the nearby M25 did not disturb us which we thought might be the case.
The hotel had a number of families staying with their main intention of visiting The Harry Potter Experience which is approximately 4 miles from here. This is an ideal location for such a plan...and super value for families with all the very special offers available for children.I would have bought mine at that age...if it had been available!!
The weather was atrocious throughout our stay unfortunately...and the accomodation is set apart from the restaurant which made the breakfast trip a little more difficult.
More importantly the information regarding the nearby station is incorrect. It is not a short walk, more like two miles along a frequently muddy, and at night very dark lane. We got taxis mostly and our friends delivered us back at night. This needs to be considered by anyone using public transport as we did.Bricket Wood station is unmanned and does NOT have a taxi rank outside, so a taxi would need to be called to collect you.
In all an enjoyable visit, marred mostly by the weather!!

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are on the ground floor, so access is easy. They are however set apart from th...

i recently staid at this premier inn. The facilities at the hotel were good and the restaurant is very nice, however the breakfasts are poor and the service of some of the breakfast staff can only be described as rude. They ran out of food for breakfast by 9.30.

Rooms - mould growth to the full ceiling in bathroom in the first room I was allocated, I asked to change rooms and guess what mould growth again to the ceiling. This is no good to asthma suffers. The rest of the room was clean and tidy, just need to get a specialist to sort out the mould and this hotel would be great. Ideal if you want a quite location was a good view of the pond.

Nestled in the glow of the M25 i expected to have a drone of vehicles throughout my stay at this hotel, however even though my room was within a stones throw of the busiest road in the UK I could not hear it. That said, stepping outside of the buidling you can here the vehicles....though not enough to stop you having a conversation.

Located just outside of St Albans - this hotel is peaceful and delivers the Premier Inn promise. No surprises; clean rooms, good amenities and the restaurant attached as described. I stay here whenever I'm in the UK.

100% no smoking policy.

Room Tip: Ground floor room is better.
