“Love to cycle here from st.albans”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

Great little place to visit. We've cycled out here a few times. Roads around are quite narrow, but quiet. One visit they had lots of old bikes in the garden, which was fantastic. They also stage outside theatre productions in the summer.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

Delighted to find a home where it actually looked as if the famous owner had lived there. Everything authentic to the period and lots of information supplied by friendly and willing guides. Beautiful garden to walk around and a glimpse into the shed where the famous man wrote his masterpieces. Shaw's wife Charlotte did not want her personal effects to be donated to the National Trust and, wisely, there was no attempt to add likely possessions. Agree that there is not much for children except the sale of ice cream but very interesting for adults who admire Shaw's literature.

“Small but perfectly formed”

You get a real sense of the man from the visit, as it's been left largely untouched so worth it for that alone.

“Could have done better.”
Reviewed June 22, 2012

More of a museum. Very dry with nothing to liven it up. Nothing to amuse or inspire youngsters. Some audio visuals would transform it.
