The most helpful friendly staff. I arranged a surprise party this weekend, the venue was fab, the rooms are great the staff could not have been any more helpful than they were, so friendly, so helpful. And the breakfast was amazing.

I stayed here on 26th August 2012 (a Sunday night) with my boyfriend and would certainly never stay here again. We made the booking via email and were not warned about the noise levels. The room itself was clean, but the bathroom light was broken and had to be fixed, and the TV also didn't work. Later the room was incredibly noisy from the club night and I wasn't able to sleep. In the morning, they had a problem with their kitchen and so there were no cooked breakfasts available (only cereal and toast).

The worst part of the night - my boyfriend went out for a cigarette and the club's bouncers refused to let him back into the room!! He had long hair at the time and was wearing a long leather trenchcoat, and they said he did not meet the 'dress code'. Fortunately he had the room key with him and so they eventually let him back into the hotel - however this was appalling and we were quite angry about this.

In the morning we complained and the receptionist apologised. Later I was called by the Receptionist to let us know that we would receive a full refund for our stay as an apology for all the issues. We paid £100 for a superior room so it wasn't cheap and we had expected better. But guess what? Cheque never arrived, and staff fobbed us off then ignored us when we chased it up later (email and phone).

Incredibly disappointing and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: Don't stay here!

We would like to thank you for your feedback from your stay 11 months ago.

Since your stay, the management company - Legacy Hotels has been removed from managing Hertford House - they ceased management back in October 2012.

Since then we have been working hard to rectify issues experienced by guests during that time.

We now make a point to warn prospective guests of the noise levels at the weekend, and our reception and door staff have since been refreshed; guest reviews have improved dramatically since this time - something we are very proud of.

We would love to welcome you back to stay at Hertford House and would be very receptive to your views on the changes since your last stay.

The hotel is situated in the town centre of Hertford which is ideal for the evening times when you are looking for places to eat and drink.

The hotel itself is very clean and modern, the rooms are quite large with free Wi-Fi and all the usual tea and coffee making facilities. The room I stayed in however did not have a "wardrobe" where I could hang my suit and shirts. All it had was a 4 in 1 set of hooks which move each had a hanger on them so not ideal if staying more than one night as this is on a locked door immediately as you enter the room.

Breakfast is served in the adjoining pub/bar and is great value for money

Be warned though as it is a pub/bar I am told that it is absolutely packed and rocking on a Friday and Saturday night.

Also be aware that due to its location they do not have a car park and you have to park in the local NCP car park which is approx. 5 min walk away

Overall it was a nice hotel ideally situated that I will be staying at again sometime in the future

I stayed here with 4 friends on Saturday night because our friend was getting married nearby. The hotel staff were very helpful, we had to change one room from a double to a single last minute which they were happy to do and they even allowed us to check in early. The beds were very comfortable, rooms were very modern and breakfast was lovely but took a while to arrive as they were busy. We got back to the hotel at 11pm and continued the after party in the hotel bar/club until 2am which was ideal for us. However, if you want a quiet early night this is probably not the hotel for you!

Celebrated a friends hen party here last Friday - brilliant deal including delicious food from Chop Grill, lovely room and en suite and welcome, beautifully cooked breakfast.
Absolutely lovely staff, especially in Grill. Yes the room was noisy, above the nightclub, but didn't stop us falling asleep after a couple of hours dancing to some great music!
This is perfect for a really good night out - no cabs to clubs, all under one roof. This is my third stay here and it's been great every time, however I have only stayed at the weekend, to include a bit of a party night... it would possibly not be the best choise for a quiet stay...

Room Tip: possibly not room 101 - above club - although lovely room.
