We booked the Talbot hotel by accident (I intended to book the Feathers) but I'm pleased with the accident as it was a very pleasant stay and the Feathers was full with a noisy wedding. The Talbot is very old and the ceiling heights bear witness to that so mind your head. We were brought upstairs to our room through narrow stairways and the room overlooked the street. It was quite large and tastefully decorated with furniture that was relatively modern but well made and suited the style. The bathroom and shower was narrow but adequate. The bar downstairs was generally occupied during the day with a good number of local people clearly using it as their pub of choice.
The food in the hotel was good but not outstanding. The breakfast (full English) was similar to the breakfasts we had in most other hotels on our trip. We also had dinner there and it might best be described as good pub food. We had rough pate and toast (tasty) and mushrooms in a sauce with crusty bread (disappointing) to start and for main courses- chilli con carne (which my wife pronounced to be as good as her own) and barbecued chicken in a sauce, which I enjoyed. Again, the hotel restaurant seemed to be frequently used by local diners which is usually a good sign.
All the staff were friendly and accommodating and I could recommend the hotel for anyone wanting a friendly country hotel with atmosphere.

The Talbot is the best place to go in the Ledbury area!!The excellent service of the staff with a very warm welcome and smile, the comfortable and relaxing rooms in both modern and old century. The food is very tasty and they serve a wide range of drinks for anyone's satisfaction
A must see even if your just visiting for the day!!!!

Booked Sunday lunch based on reviews. What a let down!. Staff poor-1 young learner barman who had no idea about service or drinks and a bossy rude women who was trying to tell barman what to do and serve lunches. Mackerel starter -value bread shown the grill with a tablespoon of mackerel and extra strong horseradish. Garlic mushrooms dumped on a plate. Roasts were obviously not from a butcher served with 2-3 carrot rounds, 3 French bean pieces, 1 blanched parsnip and 2 burnt roasters. The nut roast was bland and had the same veg as the roast. There was a very long wait between courses and no one asked if everything was ok. It was not busy as there were empty tables. It was clear from the attitude of the women that complaining would have been pointless. Food was not worth more than £5 and that was being generous Shame really because the dining room is stunning.

Andy has a great team at the Talbot, good food, great beers, and very good atmosphere in the bar. Stable rooms are excellent, don"t tell everyone I would not like them to be full next time I need to visit.

We have stayed here a few times and I keep forgetting to write a review. As soon as we walk in, we are made to feel so welcome by all of the lovely friendly staff. The rooms are very spacious, clean, and well cared for, and the food and drink is of a very high standard. Whenever we come to Ledbury there is nowhere else we would rather stay. Cannot recommend this quaint hotel enough. Reading some of the reviews it is obvious that some reviewers have had a bad day and elaborated on their experience slightly!!
